As a long time FFIII user, I'll let everyone know that the Vortex Venom battery covers are just as much of a PITA as the FFIII covers.

If you're in SoCal, Bolsa Gunsmithing in Westminster is/used to be a S&W warranty place. Another candidate would be Alan Tanaka in Gardena. Reassembling the ejector rod assembly doesn't require a master gunsmith though.

I use Goo-gone. Takes some scrubbing with a paper towel, but it really does the trick. I have some that I've fixed this way years ago and they're still hanging in there.

It wasn't mine, but I took a friends' 1993 M52-2 out for a test run, firing 50 rds of WW factory 148gr HBWC ammo through it at 25 yds. Great trigger and action smooth as glass, but it doesn't shoot quite as good as any of my K38's and Model 14's.

No. The brass screens that are used with the LLR are harmless to regular steel. You may be getting the Lewis Lead Remover confused with the lead removing cloths. Those will take the blueing off of a gun.
