457 steel mag catches I sent S&W one of their plastic mag catches that had warped to the point it would not retain a magazine. They returned a steel version. As quick as it came back I think it was already in the works. Thats when I asked for enough for all the detective guns and mine.

Carried a 457 off duty for a few years, liked it a lot. The things I did not like were the plastic disconnector, mag catch and recoil spring guide. Being the Department Armorer I got S&W to replace all those parts in our Detective's issue guns and my 457 for free. Doubt they would do it now...

4006 TSW Summitgunbroker.com had the CHP 4006TSW for a long time. Now shows out of stock. They still have 4013TSW CHP guns listed as of a few min. ago.

Just this week I picked up my 63 from the gunsmith. He fitted a blue model 51 cylinder to it. I now have the advantage of both rounds. It shoots great with both cylinders.

Most likely confusing the import regulation that requires guns that are imported or returned to the U.S. to be stamped with the importers name.

Red Dot Loads I use Red Dot to load a lot of .38 Spec. I was getting light and inconsistant metering. Another person suggested that I place some sort of vibrator on the powder measure. This keeps the flake powder moving and fills the measure each time. It worked for me.

I have a factory new 686 mountain gun barrel. These were intended for the 686+ 7 round guns. Can it be fitted to a 6 shot 686? I want to make light barrel 686 for carry. Also who does the group recommend to do the work? I had the factory re barrel another 686 and it was less than acceptable.
