    .410 Infatuation at work

When I was a little kid, my dad and my uncle would go rabbit hunting and my dad would borrow my uncle’s SxS Ithaca .410. They let me go along but I had to carry the rabbits that they shot. Heck yeah! I think the most I ever had to carry was seven. The cool thing was that the Ithaca shotgun...

    Sig 1911 question

I was talking to an acquaintance yesterday and he said that Sig was getting out of the 1911 business. He said that they were discontinuing the 1911 line and wouldn’t be making any more 1911 style pistols. I find that hard to believe. Has anyone else heard this unverified rumor????

    1911’s I’m considering

I am surprised that nobody has mentioned Sig 1911s. They can tend to be a little more expensive but I have found that they are really quality firearms. I do agree with everyone else that there are many nice 1911s out there, Colt, Smith & Wesson, Ruger, Springfield, Rock Island, Kimber, (I...

    New .22 Magnum (rimfire) M & P

I find it interesting that the Smith and Wesson M&P 22 mag is very similar to my Smith 648 in regards to ammo preferences. Results from users on this forum have indicated that the M&P prefers the heavier bullets and testing that I have done with my 648 also shows a preference for heavier...

    Would you rather have a K38 pre-15 or a model 15?

I don’t doubt you in the least bit. I was just going by the reference material that I have. I appreciate the clarification.

    Would you rather have a K38 pre-15 or a model 15?

Hmmmmm? Page 170 of the SCSW 4th edition calls the pre-15 a K-38 Combat Masterpiece, not a .38 Combat Masterpiece. I wish I could get both, but they don’t have a model 15. It sounds like the consensus is to snag the older pre-15 anyway.

    Would you rather have a K38 pre-15 or a model 15?

I recently saw a K38 Combat Masterpiece pre-model 15 at a local fun shop and started to wonder if that it be more desirable than a model 15-any, or if the model 15 would be more desirable? This is assuming that all other factors such as condition and accessories are the same. Also, which would...

My gripe with store QR codes

OK, I went to Sam’s Club about a week ago and I bought an item that had a price listed, then it also had a “scan and save” price (I think that is what they called it). I didn’t really pay attention, I thought the item was just on sale. When I get to the cashier, the item rang up at the higher...

Scored a hard to find Dan Wesson today

Don’t risk scratching up that nice gun by using the wrong tool on it. You can get that tool from EWK Arms. They make the correct tool to disassemble that barrel from the frame. I think they only cost about $30 or $40.

Has anyone used Rock Island Auctions to buy a gun?

I went to the RIA web page and was amazed at the number of firearms that they had for sale via auction. I am looking for input as to your experience if you had purchased a firearm through them (good or bad), or if you hadn’t, why not. Thanks for any and all responses.

The British Enfield L85 assault rifles

When I saw a few bits of the Queen’s funeral, I wondered what type of rifles the military personnel were carrying…I couldn’t figure it out. Thanks for your description of the gun! That is the very thing that I wanted to know!

Model 59 magazine compatibility with other generations

I just put a nice nickel plated model 59 on lay-a-way at a local shop. I want to pick up a couple of extra magazines for it and was wondering if there is compatibility of the model 59 magazines with any of the second or third generation pistols? If they require their own unique magazine, is...

Great day at the gun show--51 NICKEL

15-3 Nickel plated or King Cobra?

Thanks for all of those replies. I put the 4” 15-3 on lay-a-way and will pick it up in about a month or two. Yes, my thinking was similar to most of you in that they don’t make them anymore. If that King Cobra would have had the adjustable rear sight, I might have purchased it. I think I...

15-3 Nickel plated or King Cobra?

Locally there are two different pistols available and they both have my interest. One is a 1977 15-3 nickel plated and the other is a new production but slightly used King Cobra with fixed sights. The price for the 15-3 is $550 and the King Cobra is $650. The fixed sights on the Cobra turn me...
