Ever seen a Lew Horton Performance Center "Classic Series" 629-3?? 1 of 5 ever made!

Thought it would be fun to show this rare bird off. At first glance it looks like a stainless magna classic. It's certainly in the magna classic case. For some reason in 1998, Lew Horton received only 5 of these unique 629-3 Classics from the Performance Center. It comes with a 7.5" full lug barrel and a recessed unfluted cylinder. The side plate has the PC logo and "Classic Series" is engraved below that. I have a letter from the Performance Center stating that only 5 were produced and there were no overruns. I also have the Lew Horton Letter of Authenticity. She's in "As New" condition. So proud to have it locked away.

A rare sight

I think these were hand picked, like the
DX models. Very nice.

The Box of interchangeable Sight Blades
are a neat idea.

Please give a Range Report when you get
a chance to shoot it.

The Performance Center Classic Series are parts guns put together by the PC. I have seen both Blue (I believe 20 produced) and now the stainless Magna Classic models and a Model 19 from the 50th Anniversary. The 44 mags have unfluted cylinders' and the PC logo as well as Classic Series marking on the frame. I was not aware of the 629 version until the two guns showed up on GB. I forwarded the info to Rick Nahas for inclusion in the next edition of the Standard Catalog. Nice addition to your collection!

Bob,
That's rather interesting that you mentioned the two that had just sold on GB. I have owned this gun for not quite a year and had no idea just what it could be. I was doing a completed items search on GB for a different gun when I stumbled on those completed listings. Knowing the GB sellers, I immediately reached out to ask what was up with that listing. They both came from the Howard Trotter collection that consisted of close to 2,000 guns. Mr. Trotter had #1 and #2. I have #4. Kind of crazy to think that in one week I saw 3 of the 5 revolver run! Those listings was what got me to request the Lew Horton letter which confirmed the 5 gun run in 1998.

WOW! I assumed you purchased one of the guns from Sarah15. I have seen 3 of the 29 Classic Series. I have one and owned one of the Model 19's. Never know what they put together to use parts they have.

I believe the other gun had a letter from Jimmy Raye of the Performance Center.

Yes one of them that sold had more documentation and brought substantially more money. I was surprised though that #2 gun brought more than #1 gun.

Oh and don't think I didn't screenshot that Performance Center letter. I contacted Dan in hopes of getting a decent copy but the gun had already shipped. The screenshot was still appreciated as it provides additional documentation of the limited run.

Well kinda sorta I guess. The 629 Magna Classic shares many features of several different models.

This one does have the 7.5" barrel and comes in the same case. I guess the grips are the same as well. Differences would be a satin stainless finish verses polished. Unfluted recessed cylinder. Case colored hammer/trigger as apposed to flash chromed. I also like the fact that the lettering is roll marked as apposed to laser etched. Aside from that, I guess they are the same. lol

So…….how’s it shoot? Sorry, I couldn’t resist. Nice looking unique gun there!
