Need help with 10-7 revolver, cannot load shells.

Are you trying to load .38 S&W and not .38 Special? Different rounds. The .38 S&W case is a slightly larger diameter case.

    Heavy Clothing Stops .38 Wadcutter!

I've only seen them used by a few guys for bowling pin shoots years ago. They loaded them in .357 cases because of the overall length. Full WC design. They claimed they got about 1000 fps with them. Don't know if that was actually tested or their guess.

    Aluminum Frame / Steel Slide

My dept started issuing the Mod 39 in 1967 and continued issuing S&W alloy frame/steel slides until 1999. 39, 39-2, 439, 469, 5904, 6904. One of our main range officers once said the way to tell if you've got enough oil on your S&W was when oil ran out the bottom of your holster and down you...

Any idea what S&W revolver (or pistol?) this S&W holster goes to? B38 .45

At one time my dept issued those to command to wear under the dress blouse for our 39, 439, 469, 5904, 6904. Agents got them if they wanted them. Then when we went to Glocks we got a new one. I still have mine both of mine. Never really cared for them. They held the gun, that's about all. We...

Were you law enforcement in the 70’s-80’s? What did you carry?

S&W Model 39-nothing was issued. S&W Model 49 as my second. Usually in an ankle rig.

BPLE 115 +P+ in Model 59 question for ISPCpt and others

imarangemaster is correct about the early Silvertip. In 1980 we issued the 115 gr Silvertip but only for a few months. 2 of our Troops were involved in a shootout with a biker near Joliet IL. The biker was wearing a leather vest over a leather jacket. He started shooting with a 5 shot .38 and...

    59/459 pistols

The second gen S&W autos generally are considered to have worse triggers than 1st and 3rd gen. It's not that they are horrible, just not the same. They are acceptable. I was issued a 39 then we went to the 439. The 439 was a lot worse than the 39 but the 39 had been worked on by our range...

    Walther PPKS Info requested?

Here's my barrel stamped 74 with proofs. On a totally unrelated issue, I can't tell you how much I'm impressed with some of your picture taking abilities. I always get shadows or wash outs or out of focus.

    Walther PPKS Info requested?

Is there a letter after the serial number? If it's a S like mine then it was made 1974-1976. On mine, serial number 119---S stamped on the barrel seen thru the ejection port are a proof stamp, 74, and proof stamp. Don't know if the 1974 is actually the year but it would fit in the proper range...

BPLE 115 +P+ in Model 59 question for ISPCpt and others

We never issued the 59. We went from the 39 to 439 then 459/469 for a short time then 5904/6904. We issued the BPLE when we were issued the 439 and then 459/469. The story you are referring to with 80,000 rds involved one of our range guys shooting the W-W 115 gr +P+ in our issued 5904. I...

    Cylinder Stuck in Model 64-5

2 things to check. 1) ejector rod has unscrewed just a bit. Try tightening it. They are left hand threads so they tighten "backwards". Wrap the ejector rod with a leather pad or very heavy cloth before gripping with pliers. Do not try to overly tighten. Should be snug only. 2) since you...

    J-Frame Model 38 Humpback

I had a nickle Mod 38 for a while until another Troop offered a bit more than I had in it. I also had the blued 49 that I liked a lot better so the 38 found a new home. While the 38 was lighter to carry can't say I miss it all that much and prefer the steel/SS frames more. It's not like...

    J-Frame Model 38 Humpback

K frame Lightning grips still show up but you have to watch for them and be quick. They don't last long for sale. I picked this up 4-5 years ago. New in box. $20. I didn't waste any time handing over my $20.

    Model 39 Steel S/N

Be careful of sellers using the magnet test. Inside that alloy frame are steel parts. A magnet will look like it's sticking to the frame when actually it's attracted to the steel parts inside. I was at a gun show many years ago and saw a seller demonstrating to a potential buyer that he was...

Tyler T-Grips and the Oklahoma Attorney General

I suspect they have plenty going on and like everywhere else short of people. Maybe not all the high crimes and misdemeanors you have in NW Montana. Newalla is an unincorporated area Oklahoma City and handled by OKCPD. I'm sure OKC PD has plenty to do with murders and rapes and a lot of other...

    Help Identifying this Model 66

I bought this one in early 1974. $157 and a few pennies. Serial number 6K65XXXX A friend FBI SA was good friends with the local LE firearms distributor who supplied firearms for a lot of LEA in the midwest. He called one day and asked if I wanted a 2.5" Mod 66. I had seen reports S&W was...

    Help Identify gun

Now that I can see both sides and top of the barrel it hasn't been shortened. Lettering is centered. The front sight isn't a replacement. You've got a nice piece. The blue wearing wouldn't bother me a bit. That's shows love from being carried. Thanks for showing pictures. Always nice to...

    Help Identify gun

It could be a distorted image from posting it here but it looks like that's a 3" barrel. Barrel and ejector rod looks too long for a 2". 2" Model 10 has a stubby ejector rod. Measure the barrel from the front of the cylinder to the end. Also notice the lettering on the barrel isn't centered...
