Korth vs S&W? Are they worth the money?

When I was stationed in Germany, on of the shooting club memebers brought his Korth (Sport Model IIRC, now called the Ranger?) to our monthly range day and permitted me to run some rounds through it. The trigger pull was extremely smooth, and the gun was well built, though a little unorthodox...

Any love for Glocks around here?

Well, without the Glock, we wouldn't have the M&P Semi-Autos, so they have that going for them! I respect the Glock they make an affordable and generally reliable pistol, but their ergos haven't done it for me until the GEN 5. I found the M&Ps to be better fitting.

    Recommendations for .38spl Self-Defense Ammo

Stop scaring yourself with the R word (recoil) in relation to .38 SPL. It's been my observation that the anticipation of recoil creates more issues then the recoil itself. .38 SPL +p isn't that bad if your technique is good. That said .357, .44 magnum, 12 gauge recoil can be stout and should...

To Model 13 or not Model 13, that is the question..

You got my hopes up. The 3 inchers are surprisingly nice. But I see where you are coming from. If you are looking for used revolvers in NY, check out A&J in Bardonia NY. They actually have a case of old wheel guns. Last I was there, they had some Model 10s and a few model 15s. I was able...

357 magum self defense rounds for model 27-2 . 5 inch barrel

I lived in Germany for 5 years. I saw alot of 3 inch guns, so it's not impossible that he has a 3 1/2 revolver. Based on my reading of the standard catalogue there was also a 6 1/2 gun offered. I'm trying give the best advice possible.

To Model 13 or not Model 13, that is the question..

    I paid $800 for a 3 inch 66 a couple years ago. I'd pay the 625 for a 13 in decent shape.

357 magum self defense rounds for model 27-2 . 5 inch barrel

Agent00, Can you verify the barrel length? I read your post as that you acquired and S&W model 27-2 with a 5 inch barrel. I later noticed that there was a . in front of the 5. Usually that indicates a half inch. The 27s were offered in a 3.5 inch version and 5 inch version and later a 6.5...

357 magum self defense rounds for model 27-2 . 5 inch barrel

For a 5 inch barrel I'd look at 125 gr .357 Magnum. You could also do a 158gr LSWC in .357 magnum. I wouldn't want to be shot with either. Depending on the round, they'll flash something fierce. My 28 4" soaked up a lot of recoil form me (I could feel a difference compared to my 686 using...

    S&W Model 43C .22

For that price, I'd grab it. They aren't very common and are usually more expensive. If you want to "kick the tires", check the trigger pull, the little Smith .22s 43, 63 have had a rep for either having a nice trigger or heavy/rough trigger rarely in between.

An interesting phone call from a LEO

For what it's worth, I like Ruger Service 6s and I understaand not want to see one destroyed if it can be avoided. Do you have any means of getting in touch with the person you sold it to?

An interesting phone call from a LEO

I'd recommend talking with your lawyer and make sure you have a copy of the receipt of sale for the pistol. I don't personally think you have any claim to that revolver; I'd be more concerned that based on the documents the Cops have, you purchased the pistol from a dealer and then the next...

    no dash 64 NY-1

I just stopped by to say I'm jealous of that 3inch 64" you are showing. I've got the 2 inch and it's a good gun, but that 3inch with full length ejector looks like the bomb. Also, I knew the NYPD guns had a different finish, I didn't know it was called vapor honed. I learned something new.

Picked up a 351PD for my EDC

Daryl Bolke wrote an interesting article about selecting .22 DAO revolver for everyday carry. it might be available on the American Fighting Revolver website. He selected the .22 LR version. Of interested, is that he mentioned age, arthritis and the resultant sensitivity to recoil as reasons...
