    Victory, Navy Issued

Sad to see so many great guys who have already passed. The WWII folks are mostly gone; ditto for the Korea generation. Now it's becoming our turn.

    First Gun

Welcome to shooting and welcome to the forum. My advice is.... don't buy a gun yet. Since you mentioned that there's an indoor range nearby, go over there and talk to the folks who run it. If they act like they don't have time for you, find another range. Hang around a little and watch...

How Do You Decide What to Carry

I've carried most everything, including a full size 1911. But now I'm old and retired. I live where it's hot 12 months a year and like to be able to tuck in my shirts once in a while. So I carry an LCP in a little leather pocket holster made for it. Easy to conceal and easy to carry...

Just ordered a Milt Sparks PMK for the 642, I'm starting to second guess it...

You can obviously afford the holster, since you ordered it. As someone else suggested, you can always sell it if you don't want to keep it. You'll only know if it's a keeper once you use it - no one else can tell you that beforehand. And remember: The quality is appreciated long after the...

    J frame for pocket carry

Never say never. Large, heavy BG, thick clothing, high on something, depending on where the rounds hit.... lots of possible variables. I've seen people who should have been dead before they dropped, live for several minutes or more.

    J frame for pocket carry

In 1960 the standard .38 ammo in a lot of departments was the 158gr lead round-nose, and not a +P load, as I remember. Six rounds of today's +P hollow point .38 might produce a different result. But then again, who knows? I saw weird things happen sometimes on the street that no one could really...

    J frame for pocket carry

Love the J-frames. My first was a 1975 blue M36 presented to me by the department when I graduated from the academy. Carried it for a few years in an ankle holster as a BUG to my Colt Python duty gun. In addition to that one, I currently have a 1969 M36 in nickle, and two M60's for nightstand...

CCW: Keep one in the pipe?

I carried a Colt Ser. 70 45ACP for years on duty and it was always cocked and locked. Glad it was one night during a foot chase jumping over backyard fences, when the chasee whirled around and pointed a weapon at me. I was running at the time and fired so quickly I didn't even remember clearing...

    Chicago Mayor threatens S&W's bank....

Maybe Rahm didn't get the memo about S&W standing up to the ESOS promoter and winning. Rahm is still in cahoots with B.O. This sort of Chicago Mafia baloney can only mean one thing: They know that they can't pass an AWB through Congress. If they could they would, and Rahm wouldn't be wasting...

Smith & Wesson® Withdraws from Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show®

Message sent to the Washington Examiner: Normally I like reading the Washington Examiner online, but I take strong exception to the title of your article, "NRA Boycott Kills Outdoors Show That Banned Assault Weapons." As you and your editors know, this is patently false. This was NOT an NRA...

Smith & Wesson® Withdraws from Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show®

Message sent to the NSSF: You guys need to disband after your tepid response to the boycott of Reed Exhibitions' ESOS. Obviously, the NSSF is trying to lead from behind and no longer represents their members' most vital interests. You guys need to get out from behind your desks and actually DO...

    NEW- RKBA Pocket Holster Review

I've been carrying a Model 60 in this holster for a couple of years and it's great. I have the natural leather - smooth on the front for concealment and rough on the back to stay in the pocket. Especially with the "ears", it stays put when I draw the weapon. I just received another (identical)...

Thinking of getting a Ladysmith .357 Magnum for my wife for Christmas-too much Bang??

My wife has a Model 60 with crimson trace grips. .38 +P is the most she wants to shoot with that set up.

    Chicago NOT getting the Olympics

Not to mention Mee-Shell going over separately on an Air Force 757 two days ahead of The Annointed One. Her whole three-day "Chicago" thing has to have cost millions.

    LEO freebies

I was an officer for a couple of different departments - one in Texas and one in California - back in the 70's, mainly deep nights. As most of the others have said, it was usually 24-hour places that found it to be a good business practice to have officers around from time to time. The...

    Is $500 for a prelock Model 60 at 90 - 100% with box a good price?

Over the past 18 months I've bought three Model 60's - made in 1973, 1974, and 1975. All were 98% or better with original box, grips, tools, wrapping paper, and literature. I paid $505 for the '73 and $497 for the '74. The '75 gun had no other bids on it for some reason, and I got it for what I...

    USAF Marked 15-2

Sure wish the USAF had issued a Model 15 like that to me, instead of the well used and abused Model 10 that was waiting for me in Viet Nam :)
