please help- s/w mod 66 serial info

Thanks, I would love to tear into it , but have no ... zip experience with pistols and little with rifles. I was a motor /gear head when younger, and still enjoy a good mechanical device repair. Where do i start for reference? The gunsmith says.. do not touch... you will have springs everywhere. He dont know me, yet! but said he would help later. WWII Dad was not allowed guns in the house , I miss my first cap gun revolver. Please give a good place to read/ learn disassembly and cleaning. Pawn shop said it needs a tear down. gunsmith says it has already had trigger work. My first pistol feels better everytime I pick it up.
BTW- been buying 38 special on the street at 40-45 cents a round, here in Michigan just outside of gun range from Detroit. Any s/w tipes would be greatly appreciated... is there a good book or website to use... besides this one of course.

For reference - Standard Catalog of S & W, 3rd edition. For mechanical instruction, the Kuhnhasen shop manual is a good one.

I just got my 1976- model 66 pawn shop gun, back from the gunsmith with a very good report card on 3 measured specs. Gunsmith says it has had limited use and needs nothing. Gun is tight, timing good, and the trigger has had some minor work. Main spring ok.
Cool, it feels even better in my hand. Thanks to all for the support. Had so much fun with this hunt and buy, I am looking for a sister gun, model 64 - snub nose.
