    331 Ti 32 H&R grips

Those black rubber grips sounds like the Uncle Mike’s Boot Grips that the gun shipped with. The 331 shipped with either those or the DymondWood grips. The Uncle Mike’s Boot Grips are pretty popular for concealed carry J frames.

    Non-standard S&W Model 41 magazine release?

As others have stated, it is not factory but it appears to be well done and it looks very nice with the modified grips.

    Cleaning my m27-2 nickel

Be sure to put at least three empty shell cases in the cylinder to support the star before you try to tighten the rod.

Were there any 5.5" 41's produced in 1958?

    The original four barrel configurations were; 7 3/8” with muzzle brake (or false muzzle) - 1957 5” Field - 1959 5 1/2” Heavy - 1963 5 1/2” Heavy EFS (extendable front site) - 1965

    S&W 14 FIVE INCH

SCSW states they made 5” and they are worth a premium. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one.

    Sig P365 or Glock 26?

Having owned both, I vote for the 365. The 26 was too bulky for concealed carry for me and it was sold. The 365 is perfect for my needs.

    Model 41 info please

That’s a very early frame with a newer barrel on it. It would have originally shipped with a 7 3/8” barrel with muzzle brake or false muzzle. I wouldn’t be too up set since that’s still a great combo. One of the great things about Model 41s is the ability to change barrels easily. You should...

    Model 14-3

It is not a mismarked Model 15 since the barrel profile is distinctly Model 14. The Model 15 has a tapered barrel.

    14-6

The 14-7 was round butt only. The change from square to round occurred in 1995-96 during 14-6 production. The 14-7 came out in 1997.

    Model 17-6

The 17-6 was made from 1990 to 1993. Early models did not have the full lug barrel. It was available in 4”, 6” and 8 3/8” barrel lengths with the 6” probably being the most common. Six shot cylinder, all steel construction and most came with the square butt finger groove combat grips. The...

    M342 question

Would the .357 cylinder drop in or would it need fitting? I believe the titanium cylinders have a coating on them so if any fitting was required, the coating could be compromised. Is the difference in ballistics between the two rounds worth it out of a sub 2” barrel? Short barrel specific...

    442 Grip Screw Rust

I had the same issue. Took the factory screw to Home Depot and picked up a stainless steel equivalent. Easy fix.

    Cleaning out a 41 compensator

The muzzle brake is removable so the shooter could decide for themselves. The muzzle brake may be an advantage during timed fire where less muzzle rise is beneficial. Gil Hebard and Jim Clark tested several top .22 target pistols and published the results in the 1961 Gun Digest and Hebard’s...

    Cleaning out a 41 compensator

I agree its best to shoot without the muzzle brake installed and use the false muzzle. To clean a muzzle brake, I soak it in Kroil for a week and then clean out the inside with the plastic Tipton cleaning pics. For really stubborn deposits this may have to be repeated several times.

    Model 52 "Plum" Slide

In terms of 52s, this happens on the late production guns made up to 1993 when production stopped. The plum color is not intentional but rather an anomaly that results from some differences in the steel and how the blue reacts to it. You tend to see it more on the safeties of the late Model...
