    S&W 6906, Glocks and P320's for Carry

Glock knew they had a problem (many years ago) and they fixed it. Sig knows they have a problem and refuse to fix it. When the Glocks started showing up in my dept and academy I hated them. I taught and carried with a Sig P228. I developed carpal tunnel and could not decock my Sig causing me to...

Revolver vs. Semi Auto for CCW

Revolver vs semi auto, Ford vs Chevrolet, blonde vs brunette. A college professor once told his class 'you pays your money and you takes your choice'. Choose whatever you shoot best. There are pros and cons for both. Most of us here on the forum likely own both r and sa. I started training my...

    Banned Firearm

My club has banned all 320 variations from their property. My last PD duty firearm was a Sig and I attended the Sig police armorers school. But that was years ago and we used the classic series hammer fired Sigs. I loved Sigs but presently only own a 365. I am not biased against Sigs in fact...

    3" 686 CS1 2M

Congratulations. I owned 4" CS1's years ago. Could never find the 3" version at a what I considered a reasonable price. The prices listed above are above my pay grade, but I admit I'm a cheapskate. I am continually looking for a pre lock 3" 686, preferably a 7 shot. Never found one and probably...

    Trip to a Gun Show

The 457 was all black with a very good finish. One 7 round mag. He asked me to make an offer for a $550 price tag. I offered $ 450 and he acted like I had insulted him. I spoke with him about a limited market and the availability of mags but he didn't much seem to care. I sold my last 457 due...

    Trip to a Gun Show

I passed on a decent 457 at a local gun show a couple of months ago. Made an offer which they said was too low. I thought I'd see the same seller at last weekends show. Many of the usual dealers there but the 457 guy wasn't. Some new and different tables were there but nothing too interesting...

Which 66 (No Dash) is the better gun?

I'd vote door # 2. I do not like the porting. As far as the red ramp, it may have fallen out. I purchase a 66 once and the RR fell out at the gun show. I had it replaced and the smith used an old plastic toothbrush for material. I couldn't tell much difference in my (at the time) 6 model 66s.

    Lever action assault rifles

By definition asssault rifles can fire full auto, therefore not an assault rifle. Unless they figure out a way to keep the lever from hitting your hand in full auto?? LOL

Registering on gunbroker to sell some guns from my private collection.

I used to buy and sell on GB. I quit doing that as I have cemented what I actually am intersted in. I did purchase a hard to find gun locally (3906 TSW) on GB for a good price. BUT with shipping and fees etc, I paid over $ 130 more than the bid price. GB no more . Sell here on the forum!

    Motor Heads, I need help/advice.

Buy the V/8. I've owned several muscle cars over the years including 2 - Regal T Types (A non black Grand National). Loved the turbos and had zero engine problems. These turbo engined cars of today do not hold up. Turbos produce heat which will destroy the over burdened small displacement engines.

Were you law enforcement in the 70’s-80’s? What did you carry?

Started out in 1978 with a small department, maybe 10 FT, 15 PT (paid 3 days per week, and another 10+ reserves.) All had to buy your own guns. I went thru the academy with a 6" Python. No stainless were allowed, no custom grips only factory and rubber grips. Years later and I'm full time (now...

What was the inspiration for your Username?

Since no one asked I'll tell of my strange name. My late wife had some stuffed animals in our living room. One of those looked like the Farfel puppet in the old Nestles comercials. My daughter misspelled the name when it became my wife's online username. I just added the X to keep things seperate.

    6906 revived

This thread makes me want to buy my 6906 back. Respectfully the right side safety boondoggle is much ado about nothing. Reminds me of the Princess and the pea. As always YMMV.

    ProMags for my 3914?

My only experience with a Promag was a 10 round for my 4506. It functioned fine. But I would never have used it for a self defense scenario. YMMV

    15 4 Stubnose

At my department we had an older officer who was about 5'4" with hands that were nearly 3 times the size of mine. (I was 6' and 190 lbs.) He used to talk about his Smith and Western stub nose. His nickname was Poppa Smurf.

    Another disappointing gun show

Many posters need some cheese?? I don't go to gun shows looking for anything specific anymore. I have things in the back of my mind (like a 13, 60, 66 etc) but I look at what is available. Us old timers need to realize that MOST of what is selling today is the plastic guns. We are slowly dying...

Recovered 5906 damaged by the police.

I worked in various areas in my police career. One of them was as a evidence technician (aka csi). We were trained to etch the case number on guns used in a crime. I never really understood it but had to follow my training. I believe today that etching practice has ended. I once had a Glock 21...

What Is Happening To Local Gun Shows?

I have to disagree with some of the above responces. The two major gun shows near me were OGCA in Wilmington and Tri State gun collectors in Lima. OGCA was fairly strict on what was on the tables. Lima does allow some junk but still has four buildings of mostly guns. The main problems are the...
