Where to Start with Holsters - 686

I’ve never really carried much in a holster other than a pocket holster. That doesn’t really work for a larger gun. I’ve just acquired a 686 3”. I want something comfortable for field carry - definitely OWB. If it works great concealer that’s a plus. Comfort is the key. What should I...

    Weight of a 342ti

How well does the 317 shoot vs another airweight? Great guns, but it’s hard to shoot something that light well.

    Modern 357 - 66 vs 686

Great advice all. I’ve got a 3” 686+ in bound. Look forward to breaking it in. Now to figure out which grips I like!

    Modern 357 - 66 vs 686

Thanks for the thoughts. My grandfather had a 6” 617, which I found muzzle heavy way back when. To one posters point, I do want to carry this gun. More in the woods than for a CCW / personal protection. I’ve got a 342 that just disappears for true CCW. Easier to shoot or easier to carry...

    Modern 357 - 66 vs 686

First, this forum was helpful in the decision on a 22 revolver, and I’m picking up a 4” 617 tomorrow. Thank you! I’m looking to add a modern 357 to the mix as a reshuffle my collection. I’m trying to decide between a 2.75” 66 or a 3” 686. I like the appearance of the 686 more, but it’s a...

Right Powders - 38 Special Jacketed Training Loads

I want to learn to shoot my 342 PD. Unfortunately, it says no cast bullets on the guns. What powders should I consider for 125-130gr jacketed loads? Especially, good loads for training. It looks like W231 would be very good. Thanks, QD

What 22LR Revolver Do I Want?

I don’t have a no lock, so the thought of an M18 is interesting.

What 22LR Revolver Do I Want?

If only USFA was still around. I’m a double action guy, but those were nice guns! Great thoughts by all and lots to consider. I always struggle with new pinned in (i.e. replaceable) sights vs. older no-locks.

What 22LR Revolver Do I Want?

These are all great responses and food for thought. Please keep them coming. One of the things I love about this board is the great photographers! For disclosure, I have been bitten the the bug and have a 342, 625 (4”), and 629 (5”). I also have 41 that’s almost a laser gun.

What 22LR Revolver Do I Want?

I want a 22 revolver to add to my collection. It will mostly see range use, but would be nice to carry in the woods. I used to have a light Taurus revolver. I couldn’t shoot it well and didn’t think it was nice. I think it was about the same form factor and weight as a S&W317. I’m trying to...

    WTS - S&W 342PD / Stag 3G / Rossi Trifecta

I’m going to do some swapping of the gun portfolio around to swap out some safe queens for guns that should see more use. First up is a S&W 342PD. It’s a great gun. I shot it 100 times or less. I’m asking $600 plus $50 to cover shipping if required. I’m in NC. Next up is a Stag 3G...

Mistakes - Guns you wish you had not bought ...

1 - Taurus 22 revolver: horrible tigger, action felt awful, never accurate 2 - SKS with AK mag - junk 3 - Ruger LCP - not fun to shoot; doesn't feel nice (is easy to carry) 4 - English SxS 12 - very small - uncomfortable vs my Citori There are probably a few others. Not spending enough to...
