I have noticed a few small nicks in my case defelctor right where it meets the upper but not in the opening itself. I am thinking about placeing a small section of velcro on it.

The factory sights felt really cheap like they belong on an airsoft, just put a set of the Magpul's on my 15-22 and love them; it's also nice not having to co-witness with a red dot. You should defiantly do the Appleseed, been to one myself and looking to do it again this fall.
