Anyone else love their SW 1911?

Yep. I've had mine for two years now, about 2500 rounds or so. It is my preferred shooter out of the five 1911's I have which are all wonderful and cost at least $1200 more than I paid for the S&W. It's out of the box, tight and right.

    Concealed...works for me

For summer wear, I had a seamstress sew a few pockets on the right and left side of a few of my shirts and t-shirts. Just put a few lead fishing weights into the pockets and it will hold the shirt down and help prevent printing and wind print. Simple, take then them out to wash and good to go.

    S&W .22 revolver

I am looking for an older .22 revolver. i used to shoot my friends Smiths and I remember how good they felt and how accurate they were. I have a Ruger MIII and I like it but hell, I am not going to spend the dollers to get it as accurate as a Smith. I used to shoot the old 41's when I was on...

    s&w 1911 model 108303

i have owned or at least shot most of the 1911's since the mid 1960's. Out of the box, my two are just amazing. I will get the new E series when they come out with the more traditional model.

    38 spcl+p vs 9mm+p

Exactly Elmer. That's why I have always had the "at least .357, .40" thing for carry going on. I love the .38 and 9mm for fun (no longer any competition) but, I am leaning out my caliber choices. I no longer reload, but still shoot around 3000 rounds per year center fire and way more .22. I...

    38 spcl+p vs 9mm+p

Thanks guys. Good information. My question evolves from a decision to look at a smaller frame for carry in summer clothing and for back-up. My long time carry options are M19-3, Sig 229 and 1911 and I am very comfortable and competent with either platform. I think my next decision is...

    whats a good practice distance?

I typed "caps" not "cops". What the heck is this about shooting cops? I'm done with this.

    whats a good practice distance?

i appreciate what you are saying. I only meant that those kind of situations do arise and if you are not prepared you are in a world of hurt. If you are at the range and are going to bust caps, why not extend yourself and practice for another situation. I see guys at the range that feel...

    whats a good practice distance?

Just to add a different situation....you have a bad guy coming at you armed with a pistol, knife whatever, you take him out at about the traditional 7 yards or less...good, what you practice all the time. Well, low and behold here come two of his buddies, armed with a rifle and a shotgun....25...

    Do you own/shoot a S&W 1911?

108299 and I love it. Accuracy out of the box way above my Kimber or SA loaded. Trigger, I did not even think about sending to be tuned. Almost 2000 rounds.

SW1911 TFP first box of ammo

S&W sent me a Chip McCormack 10 round mag after I sent them a Mag that had a broken bottom cap...factory act mag...replaced at no cost. Works perfectly after 200 plus rounds.

    S&W CS

Just wanted to say....I sent a broken ACT mag to cs. Just a broken mag bottom. I swear I did not do it, but I must have...not other reason. I do not drop and remag...just target shoot. Talked to them and they said sent it back...I did and forgot to enclose the reason, facts, sent to...

Keep it simple...anyway...I have multiple S&W revolvers...a S&W 1911 108299 and lordy I love it. Problem! I also have and love the Sig P229 in .40 including the 22lr conversion kit. Man, never fails, eats everything every time, easy to strip and clean, totally reliable and accurate. I carry...

    Cocked n Locked holster question

I bought a Galco fletch paddle holster with thumb latch for my S&W 1911. I like Galco's...have three and they work very well for me ( two smith revolvers and a sig p2290. This one, however, even after a breakin period, will move the thumb safety to the off position after the slightest...
