    Navy Victory ??

This a.m. noticed an ad on the guns for sale/ "Smith and Wesson 5 screw Victory Revolver with original holster, cleaning rod and lanyard. I got this from a relative of a WWII PB4Y1 (B-24) pilot. Comes with a very interesting letter of provenance I received outlining his 40 year career in naval...

DCP, I don't have the direct # to the Historian. I believe he is Roy Jinks at the S&W Museum. If you call S&W @ (800)+331-0852 between 8:00 AM & 5:00 PM EST they may be able to direct you. The U.S. NAVY stamp on mine is at the same location on the top strap as yours is.

I own a Victory V12116XX with the same grips. I would not sell anything that came with it when you acquired it !! I bot a pair of smooth grips which I can put on if I choose. Where is the Navy marking on your revolver and what does it say. Are there any markings under the grips or on the...

S&W Victory .38 Special Navy Revolver Manufacture Date

Under right panel/grip is "424/410" probably same as 424410 and no marks on left panel/grip. They are very nice grips with the silver SW medallion in them and measure about 3/8" in dia. They look like walnut and are a medium chocolet brown. Tried to get a provenance for the revolver but none...

To all, Does anyone know the thread size for the machine screw which holds the grips on the M7P or Victory model 38 cal revolver/i.e 4-40 or ?? The shank on a 3/32" drill bit will clear the threads but a 7/64" won"t. Thanks...

Victory PC/CD marked, pictures - redux

All the Victory's I have seen that were marked "Civil Defense" had the Navy Property on the left side of the frame with "Civil Defense" crudely embosed with electro pencil over it. Looks really ugly !!Someone has suggested it could be an arsenal rebuild/inspection mark of some sort.

Victory PC/CD marked, pictures - redux

PC/CD Ben, I will try to get pics of my "V" model on website this weekend. Could you supply the 1st 4 digits of your revolver. Mine are V1211xx and run to the right of the lanyard ring with the muzzle pointed to the left. I have seen some which have the "V" on the left of the ring and...

To all, I found this 2009 post on S&W Forum and indicates there is at least 1 more PC/CD out there but didn't see a serial http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-hand-ejectors-1896-1961/104972-victory-pc-cd-markings-sideplate-2.html PistolPackin...

Sounds like a good guess. Doubt USN would have any records but worth a try. I googled letters and found PC was used on military marks and stood for "P. Chapman Civilian 1944". Another possibility for PC would be "Phillipine Constabulary". Dosgatos, thanks for the pic and letter. Looks like...

New acquisitions by a new member....

Addendum After contacting Roy/S&W Historian I gleaned the following: Revolver #1 Is Victory Model assigned to USN late 1942. He had no idea what the PC/CD was. Marks on left and rt frame underneath grips were Insector marks. On another post an individual had one marked on left side under...

No other no's or letters on bottom of butt strap. No's are close to centered on the strap and have small serifs. Measuring extractor rod from exit at frame toward muzzle to where the rod diameter increases/both measure about the same/maybe the V is slightley longer.. The difference is this...

Thanks, I am member of CMP Forums (which strangley resembles this forum). I refered to the triggers and hammers that way to indicate there is some blue marking/case hardening as one might find on a Mosberg M-44 bolt but not blued or parkerized. Many times carbine hammers and sears...
