    617 22 Revolver

I picked up a 4" 10 shot recently. It came from an individual on a website in my state. I paid $625 for it, but it came with a target hammer I sold on this site for $40, so I've got $585 in it. It was practically new, so really anywhere around $600 +/- I think is alright. Fantastic accuracy-...

S&W Performance Center-Master Revolver Package vs Combat Package: Which one?

Greetings! To your question: There are several reasons the trigger pull could be heavier- none of which we can really answer without handling them. Yes, it can effect accuracy. This effect can be overcome through practice and training. Neither- put a couple hundred rounds through the...

    4" 66 No Dash

****SOLD*****4" Model 66 No Dash, P&R, all Stainless Sights. Revolver has signs of normal wear with some scratches and an odd "patch" of scratches underneath the grips (don't know what caused them- don't even see how it could happen, but it's there). Grips have a chip (see photo) and minor wear...

    which 629 model is best?

Monday-Wednesday, the -4 is the "best." Thursday- Sunday, the -5 is the "best." :D I can say that my 6" -5, full lug is one of the most accurate handguns I have ever shot. Locks up in such a way to make a Colt blush and has a great trigger. It is MIM, but that's given me zero problems so far...

Competition against the 617 at last…

Can't quite go with the OP on this one. Even if the sp101 was $250 lower than a 617, I wouldn't bite. In the long term scheme of things, $250 is a small price to pay to get what you really want. I've owned (note the tense) 3 sp101s. I own (note the tense) every Smith I've ever purchased. I am...

    M&P340 Locked-Up! Help Me!

Correct- or better said, I didn't hear the primer go off (I wear some pretty intense hearing protection). I thought it was a misfire. When I went to check it is when I found I couldn't open the cylinder. I agree with you, that is a good practice. But I have seen guys continue to fire after a...

    M&P340 Locked-Up! Help Me!

The round that jammed everything up was the round being fired; in-line with the barrel. The bullet was stuck in the barrel with just a hair left in the case. I wouldn't have noticed it after all was said and done except I saw that the primer had been struck.

    M&P340 Locked-Up! Help Me!

OK, a little update here. It bothered me greatly that the bullet "pulled" because I always put an ultra tight crimp on them. I checked out my reloading gear and all was fine. I then happened to look at the cases and rounds that came out of the jammed cylinder and that's when it hit me...

    M&P340 Locked-Up! Help Me!

Swooo! OK, I was wrong and you guys were right. I did have a bullet pull out BIG TIME. Long story short, I have spent the evening learning more about j-frames than I ever thought I would. At least now I know I can tear one down (as in, to the frame) and put it back together. I had to do...

    M&P340 Locked-Up! Help Me!

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, here's a little more detail. The cylinder won't just not turn, it will only fall out half-way. Also, the cylinder gap is completely closed (I did push the bullet back all the way just to be sure). The release side also has some odd back play that's not...

    M&P340 Locked-Up! Help Me!

Forgot to mention that I was shooting starting load 38 reloads of power pistol, so bullet jump isn't a problem here.

    M&P340 Locked-Up! Help Me!

Need some ideas here as to what might have gone wrong with M&P 340 today. I put one cylinder down range and then loaded another cylinder. One shot fired and then the next shot I thought misfired on me. It wasn't a misfire. I thought the infernal lock might have set on me, but it was unlocked...

Preferred revolver cleaning, Snake or Rod?

No problem. Send rod, with no brush attachment, through the barrel. Screw on brush at empty cylinder and pull through. Really though, I think most of us just send the brush through the barrel and don't worry about it. After literally hundreds of cleanings and thousands of rounds, I've seen no...

    Just got a S&W 500!!!

My google-fu is weak tonight, I could not find an x-frame oversize cylinder stop. I did find this Smith & Wesson’s New .500 Magnum Revolver which addresses issues with the cylinder stop that some of the early 500s had.
