Can anybody tell me when this 2" revolver was made? It's U. S. Marked but later than victory I believe

The military procured a lot of model 10’s during the Vietnam era mostly 4” but obviously some 2” as well. Most commonly encountered is the 4” round butt, which appear to have been common issue to aviators in that time frame. A friend who was a helicopter crew chief much later told me in addition...

New acquisition for my collection- S&W Model 15-3 2 inch

Love these 15 snubs! I foolishly got rid of mine some years ago after paying less than $300 for it. Rough on the outside but pristine inside and shot great. Felt the burning need for a different gun and down the road it went.

Finally a new to me model 10!

A little update. Took the gun apart for a cleaning and mechanical check and it looks new inside like I suspected. Serial is a C series from 1966 or 67 per the standard catalog 4th. I will probably throw some pics up on facebooks revolving cylinder page at some point ( work interferes with my...

Passed on a 64-3 with 3" barrel and real Tyler T-grip

You and me both. One of the hottest revolvers on the secondary market. A run of classic no lock 13’s and 65’s would be worth me rolling the dice on a modern production gun - but for the love of god make some blue ones! S&aw has a horrendous habit of introducing something sort of interesting...

    10-7, 4" pinned, with Grip Adapter....cheap!

I was delighted to get a carried a lot shot a little 10-5 a few days ago for $259 - they aren’t cheap like they used to be- sounds like a jump on it deal to me

Finally a new to me model 10!

Bobsguns never a good idea to store a gun in a holster. The leather can absorb or retain moisture and result in significant rust

Finally a new to me model 10!

Getting exciting! According to the ups tracking, the gun was supposed to show up next week. I get home this evening and the door had a UPS tag stuck to it, stating I missed delivery and can wait for next delivery day attempt or pick up at local location!

    Model 15 & 19 adjustable sights

I highly doubt S&W on standard run of the mill models did anything but install the sights and ship The gun. Over the years some companies ( colt, sig sauer walther ) did include test targets showing how the gun grouped and with said group centered. I don’t recall S&W ever doing this ( did they...

    Mt Gun vs Model 18

For me the only slight detractor of the older guns versus the current production is the 10 round capacity. Also I personally detest stainless and would only want blue. Typically a very nice user shooter grade 18 is going to cost less than the current mountain guns, so to me simply not worth it.

Finally a new to me model 10!

About a year or so back, I posted a thread asking is a run of the mill shooter grade model 10 a $400 gun now? And got pretty much a yes. I am a dinosaur that remembers buying lots of old functionally excellent old cop model 10’s that were finish challenged for well under 200 bucks, and for the...

ID Inquiry for .38 Special with No Model Number

Simple answer is rebluing ALWAYS always results in lower value ! Examples: In a collectible gun in good shape - original finish let’s say would value at $750 with refinish its $500 For a rough condition “working gun” if zero or close finish is a $200 gun. Add $400 for refinish work of good...

Picked up a nice SW 17-2 today

In my era of the desert southwest, I come across very few older used revolvers for sale. Used to see lots more when I lived in the northeast for some reason. The few I do see are priced high, often what I consider “ mint in box” prices for shooter grade guns. I am also one to buy guns to use so...

    Stamp Collecting The NYPD Way

As a former long time NY ( state) resident I always thought it ironic that NYPD would have officers personally purchase guns as opposed to them being issued considering NY’s long history of opposing and heavily discouraging private handgun ownership. I always enjoy reading your posts about the nypd!

Model 38 air weight nickel. Deal or no deal?

I would buy at that price, better to negotiate down a bit if possible Most important is to examine the frame flat where the barrel screws in VERY carefully to make sure it is not cracked. I have examined quite a few that were. ( magnifying glass and strong light required even more so on...

Identify the age of my Dad’s service pistol.

I had a chief that my dad carried for about 20 years then I did as well for another 10-15 ( usually in an ankle holster exposed to high humidity/ stepping in snow drifts and rain puddles) and it looked pretty good still - some spots worn bear on the grip straps but others wise about like the one...

    S&W Model 34

A touch high but not outrageous at all. About 15 years ago I decided I wanted to give one another try ( previously owned a 2” square butt with major accuracy issues and the later a 4” round butt I just didn’t warm up to. It took me about 7 years to finally find a nickel square butt 2” for under...

Model 18-2. Info age value Thank you

Looks like a nice shooter grade gun. The mis matched stocks edge wear and fact someone etched what I think is a drivers license number on the butt decrease the value quite a bit. I would imagine it would sell quick at 500 might sit on the shelf a while at 600

    Reintroducing the 940

For the last 20 years or maybe more, S&W seems to have totally forgotten that some of us like blued guns. They introduce models that interest me, until I see only in stainless, that kills it for me. Stainless predominates today not because it is more weather resistant or easier to care for (...

    Oh those C and D S&W Model 10’s

A classic and favorite of mine, though I currently don’t have one ( trying to remedy that, but they are surprisingly scarce where I live and I rarely see any available for sale locally, and always seem to miss out by a bid or two on the on line auctions) other than not being a fan of the 6”...
