Bad Experience w/the 632 Ultimate Carry

One of the advantages of the two-piece barrel design used on these was supposed to be an end to improperly clocked barrels. The tab on the frame is supposed to fit into the slot on the barrel shroud for perfect alignment. I wonder how they already figured out how to mess that up.

    New 686 Mountain gun

After reading this thread, I pulled out my S&W revolvers to see if any of them had the "unsightly gap" between the top of yoke and frame. Only one did - my oldest, an early 1980's 25-2. No problem sliding a business card into the gap. I still love it regardless.

No more Bullseye! What are you switching to?

Bruno’s Shooter Supply sent out an email this evening saying that they have an Alliant Powder shipment coming in one-two weeks that includes Bullseye, BE-86 and Power Pistol among others.

    Question

To answer this specific question, each primer company has their own numbering system for primers. For large pistol, CCI uses 300, Federal uses 150, Remington uses 2-1/2 and Winchester denotes theirs as WLP. I'm less familiar with what the various foreign primer manufacturers use.

    New Model 19 Strength

Also, the redesigned K-frame 357's do away with the forward locking bolt for the extractor rod. Instead, the forward lockup occurs with a ball detent at the front of the yoke, which is supposed to be stronger.

Jo Ann passed away on March 27 (as noted on Missouri Bullet's Facebook page). Fortunately, she and Brad had made plans for the company to continue.

1980's 686 rear sight blade loose

Yes you can replace the sight blade. However, be aware that the new one may wiggle also.

was the 640 Pro quality bad?

I have a little over 7,000 rounds (mostly .38 Special +P but some .357 magnum) through my 640 Pro and it has been flawless. One of my favorite carry guns.

Painting Front Sight on a Fixed Sighted K Frame

I'm probably more anal than others. I use two coats flat white spray primer (Kilz or Rustoleum), then two coats of Krylon fluorescent spray paint (either fluorescent orange or fluorescent green). I actually prefer the green - my eyes pick it up easier - but I've used both with excellent...

Pros and cons of 327 TRR8??

If her hands are big enough to handle an N-frame comfortably, the TRR8 is a wonderful revolver. I really like my 686+ but I absolutely love my TRR8.

Quick, before I commit to buying an M640 PRO

I have a M640 Pro and love it. The sights are great and I actually use the moonclips (I know people have strong opinions pro and con about moonclips so not trying to start a war). It's an accurate gun and one that won't beat you up in a range session due to the extra weight of the steel frame...

    Why do I still want a J-frame?

I have a Crimson Trace LG-405 on my 640 Pro. It's the compact, boot-grip size laser. It does cushion the backstrap without making the grip too large to fit in your pocket. Oddly, these grips aren't the most comfortable when just holding the gun, but once I start shooting they're the best I've...

    640 pro good gun?

My 640 Pro is my favorite J-frame. While I rarely shoot magnums in it, it handles .38 +P wonderfully. Yes, there is extra weight over an Airweight (like the 442 I have) but the weight makes shooting the 640 Pro a joy vs. the lighter Airweight. In a typical range session, I will only stop...

Passed by the gun shop & guess what I found?

I have 6 S&W revolvers, all purchased new between 2010 & 2014. All 6 have barrels on straight, tight lockup and B/C gaps at .06" per my feeler gauges. I know they're letting some stuff slip through QC but it isn't an epidemic IMHO. Of these 6, 4 were special ordered.

How Many Rounds do you Shoot a Week?

Typically 200-300 pistol rounds per week in one range session.

Is a S&W 500 Appropriate at an Indoor Range?

The indoor range where I'm a member rents 460's and 500's. The noise and pressure wave don't really bother me that much - I have custom ear plugs + muffs as I frequently shoot full-house magnums in .357 and .44. What does annoy me is when someone in the stall to my left leans too far forward...
