I don't own an M&P yet either but I plan on buying one in the near future. As a repeat from my research on the net and this forum I'm going with the 40 for the ability to swap barrels. I own a compact Springfield XD so this weapon will be full size, but you can't go wrong either way.

I completely understand that. I practice all the time and im not wanting this done with those expectations. I just want a softer trigger pull cause this seems abnormally high, even thou after research I know now it's not.

Definitely one in the chamber, your a sitting duck if not. Like others have said get some training, practice, and get more comfortable around guns. It will I ly help you in the end. I was timid at first myself but now it's second nature like brushing your teeth in morning.

Federal is all I shoot. Shoots great and is one of the 'cleaner' shooting ammos Ive shot.

My new 642 .38 has the lock and I've run 300 rnds thru it with no problems. I thought about removing it but I too was thinking about possible implications if I ever needed to defend myself since its my main carry side arm.

My local WM usually is always stocked. I typically buy 3 boxes of 9mm and a box of .38 sp every week. If they have the 100 rnd boxes I get those. But I normally shoot 2-3 boxes a week of 9mm. My next ammo purchase will be a 1000 rnd case at the local gun shop. In that size case they are selling...

Hey all new to the boards from Tulsa OK. Just bought my first S&W handgun. Got a 642 for CCL purposes. Been carrying a XD subcompact 9mm but I wanted something a little lighter and easier to conceal. I'm looking forward to looking around and learning some things from the boards.
