    Cor-Bon Powder Choice - 460 S&W

Just curious to find out if anybody knows whether Cor-Bon develops their own powders or use commercially available powders in their "Factory Ammunition"? I'm mainly interested in loads for the 460S&W... Cor-Bon claim to achieve 2300+ fps using 8 3/8" barreled S&W 460 XVR firing Barnes 200 gr...

    Stainless Cleaning Question

Birchwood Casey Lead Remover and Polishing Cloth!!! I have a 460 XVR which REALLY dirties up the cylinder face... 30 seconds with these cloths and it looks brand new... I have tried solvents and brushes... Save your time and give the cloths a go. You won't be dissapointed :)

    Ransom Rest + Revolver = .......?

I'm hearing ya! The first time I realised the stamps on my cylinder face were RSVP Ransom Rest, I got on Google Setchup and started drawing myself up a design... But, as i said, I take nothing away from Ransom... they are an exceptional product that continued to perform... even on my XVR :)

    Please advise on second carry.

I own a 460 XVR... If you want it dead it's hard to go past... Muzzle blast is extreme and intimating at first, however it is a gentle giant to shoot (single hand 200gr pills)... Suppose it depends on what your target is... If the 460 can't do it, not too many handguns will

    Ransom Rest + Revolver = .......?

Evening all, Was just chasing some opinions from all you good folk who have had experience with using a "Ransom Rest" with a wheel gun... More specifically, hard hitting wheel guns such as the X Frames... I have used my Ransom Rest on both my auto and my 460 XVR and found it to be a great...

    Revolver Reloading - Sticky Extraction?

Thanks for your help :) I think I threw the .460 into the thread (it's what I'm currently loading for)... What got me wondering about the signs of pressure was after loading up some 460 loads according exactly to the Hornady Reloading Manual: Hornady Cases, Winchester Large Rifle Primers...

    Revolver Reloading - Sticky Extraction?

p.s: A session for me would never include in excess of 50 rounds... After each session, great time an effort is spent on cleaning, neutralizing and lubricating my toy :-)

    Revolver Reloading - Sticky Extraction?

Thanks for your advice.... I am firing .460 S&W Magnum and after referring to several notable vaults of information(Lyman, Hornady, Speer, Barnes, etc...) I am trying to find the load that works for my gun. With previous experience where flattened primers say "Back off", I am just trying to...

p.s, I could adjust the decapping pin down far enough with this die to deprime and purely "neck size"

help with sizing 460 S&W brass

I also had exactly the same problem with exactly the same sizing die. I spoke with redding about it and they suggested not using the Titanium Carbide die for full length sizing and to just resize the mouth (neck size)... I ended up going with the Hornady Titanium Carbide full length sizing die...

    Revolver Reloading - Sticky Extraction?

G'Day all, I'll start of by saying I am still relatively new to wheel guns. I have been reloading for Bolt Action Rifles and Semi Auto Handguns for a little while now (still relatively inexperienced), and have been told that a good indication, with these firearms, of excessive pressure is...

460 XVR marks on Cylinder Face

Just been thinking... Do you think that firing such a Revolver as the 460XVR in a Ransom Rest could cause this? That maybe due to the un-natural recoil in which it allows the barrel to flip up, but not the gun to actually move backwards would be causing enough stress that the cylinder would...

460 XVR marks on Cylinder Face

Problem identified... Upon close inspection (magnified) the marks all appear to have a number of vertical indentations coming off them, and all in the same place. After cleaning up the forcing cone, it appears as though the Cylinder Face has been coming in contact with the top inner edge of the...

460 XVR marks on Cylinder Face

Thanks for advice. It is one of 2 things causing the marks I'm now thinking... Gas cutting or cylinder contacting forcing cone. Either way, I don't feel as though it should be occurring in a brand new gun with so few rounds fired... And no hot loads. Have contacted S&W... Now playing the waiting...

460 XVR marks on Cylinder Face

Brand new gun, 90% of shots fired being from .45 LC... Less than 50 shots total.... If the "crack" was visible on all chambers i'd say it was normal.... but it's not... I'm just after some advise as a proud new gun owner... we all hate seeing imperfections in our new toys.... i Just want to...

460 XVR marks on Cylinder Face

Hi all... Just been cleaning the cylinder face on my 460 XVR and noticed some marks between each chamber and the edge of the cylinder on 4 out of 5 chambers. They look like cracks or fractures in the steel, however I have only fired about 50 rounds through it since new. (and most of them were...
