Evening all,
Was just chasing some opinions from all you good folk who have had experience with using a "Ransom Rest" with a wheel gun... More specifically, hard hitting wheel guns such as the X Frames...
I have used my Ransom Rest on both my auto and my 460 XVR and found it to be a great piece of equipment for setting sights and for test loads on the chrono... On the 460 it typically puts 3 rounds through the same hole (cloverleafed) at 50 yds... But my concern is with the recoil forces...
The Ransom allows for "Muzzle Jump", but does not allow a single inch of actual rearward travel. On the autos this is not an issue because the slide is still able to move rearwards, but on a revolver (especially something like the X frames), this has to be putting a hell of a lot of stress on components... Yes???
My reason for asking relates to a previous thread from me where I was wanting to know why my cylinder face on my brand new 460 XVR was striking the forcing cone with enough force to stamp the cylinder face... I'm now guessing this was a result of being used in the Ransom...
Thought's?
Cheers
