    Next gun?

I just purchased my "next gun"...a nice Glock 19 G3. Now, for my next "next gun" I'm thinking of a bolt action rifle...probably a Ruger American in .270 or .308.

REMINDER! Check & lube your carry gun.

Great reminder Hillbilly...we can sometimes fall into the "out of sight, out of mind" mindset. I check, clean, and lube my EDC once a month, usually on the first of the month. It is a good habit to get into.

    Milwaukee County Sheriff Speech

The vast majority (like 90%) of the county sheriffs here in Colorado share this sheriff's point-of-view. It is indeed refreshing to hear these powerful leaders in law enforcement supporting our second amendment rights. If you live in a county where the sheriff is a strong 2A supporter, please...

I have to ask this question (answering your door armed)

Me too...with my weapon on my hip, or if I feel threatened, in my hand out of sight!!! I'm even more vigilant now that my opsec is compromised...they know where I live and work, and they know I have weapons. If some on this site think my approach is over the top, or paranoid, I don't care...

I have to ask this question (answering your door armed)

Well, folks...I'm done with this thread, with one last comment. Here's something to think about as you argue back and fourth on this topic. Yesterday while I had a meeting after our worship services, four teenagers came into our unlocked church building, broke into my office and stole my...

I have to ask this question (answering your door armed)

Let me be clear...when I said I let my 9mm do the talking, I DID NOT raise my weapon, or point it in the direction of the unwanted trespasser. I simply had the weapon in my hand, at my side, pointing to the floor in a safe manner. I DO understand what brandishing is and I would never do that. I...

I have to ask this question (answering your door armed)

Only in So. Cal where you live. I know...I was born and raised there and lived there for 48 years. However, where I live NOW, this is not brandishing. Why? Because I was in my home, not on the street! Before making a claim that someone is clearly brandishing you should be certain of the...

I have to ask this question (answering your door armed)

My granddaughter's pediatrician has a sign that reads, "Children left unattended will be given an ice cream cone and a puppy."

I have to ask this question (answering your door armed)

Shows how wrong some sales people can be. I did have a persistent salesman at my door, along with two of his buddies. He was selling roof repairs...I talked through the door, but he wouldn't take "no" for an answer. So, I opened the door and let the 9mm do the talking for me. He saw it, and...

I have to ask this question (answering your door armed)

This is why, as I posted previously, I have a sign by my front door that reads, "NO SOLICITATIONS! We will not answer the door so don't bother." A bad guy doesn't know if we are home or not. If they try to break in and we are home they will find themselves facing either a 9mm pistol or an AR15...

I have to ask this question (answering your door armed)

I have a motion detector that covers my front walk leading to my door. I know when someone is coming long before they arrive at my door. When they get there they will see a sign that reads, "NO SOLICITATIONS! We will not answer, so don't bother." If someone still rings my doorbell (and I am not...

    updating concealed carry wardrobe

The shirt I have on right now is a button down, short sleeved shirt, long enough to cover my OWB holster even if I raise my arm. It is slightly larger than what I used to wear before CC'ing. I paid $15 for it at Walmart. No one would ever know that I'm carrying and I've never been outed - not...

    Glock 19 or SD9 VE?

Two months ago I was in the same place as you are now...deciding between the SD9VE and the Glock G19. I already own a Sigma and it has proven to be a very reliable weapon. I purchased it because of the lower price and it has served me well for 18 months. However, I tried a G19 and the difference...

    Newbie from Wyoming

Welcome from Colorado! I just returned from visiting friends in Missoula and we had this very discussion. His research showed that .357 Mag or .44 Mag are the minimum for bear protection. However, he also found that bear spray is the best way to protect yourself. Good luck! And stick around...

Do you really want to advertise that?

I'm adding a new sticker to my truck: "My child is an honor student. My governor is a moron." I figure it might help defeat his re-election in the coming year... :D

Do you really want to advertise that?

I have an NRA sticker on my truck's back window. For me it is a way to show support for an organization that is doing more than anyone else to protect our 2A rights. It also shows people that there are many of us out there who support the Constitution. I'm not concerned about someone seeing the...

    Another Happy Ending

Amen brother!! There are many bad guys who see churches as an easy target, and unfortunately in most cases that's true. However, there are many churches across our great nation that are anything but soft targets. On any given Sunday morning there are 1-3 CC worshipers in my congregation, not...

    Another Happy Ending

    New SD9VE issues

I noticed the same thing...looks like an adjustment might correct the problem, or a new slide release.

    What are they thinking?

For me, if a person OC's they are giving up a key advantage...the element of surprise. In addition, at least for me, I wouldn't want the extra attention. I always carry concealed.
