New to me 1911sce smooth bore?

I did shoot it and it would shoot some handloads into 4 to 5 inches at 25 yards. I shot it today with the new barrel and the same loads shot into 2.5 to 4 inches which I think is fairly good for a light weight commander in my hands.

New to me 1911sce smooth bore?

Here's an update, my 1911 was gone for 15 days and it's back with a new barrel, this one's properly rifled and I expect it will be much more accurate. I'm very happy with S&W's service and glad my 1911 is home!

New to me 1911sce smooth bore?

Here is one more pic just for clarity, the bullet on the left was fired from my 1911 ruger. the one on the right was fired from my s&w. It will go back to them asap.

New to me 1911sce smooth bore?

That must be what happened. I'd like to think s&w would just require the barrel be set back in lieu of the whole dang gun. I'm really not angry about it, but I'm sure a rifled barrel would be more accurate.

New to me 1911sce smooth bore?

Me neither, it looks exactly like a shotgun barrel, you can even see what looks like a choke restriction but no rifling whatsoever. Maybe someone at the factory was playing around with a barrel to shoot shot shells?

New to me 1911sce smooth bore?

Yes, no rifling at all! It looks like a choked .410 barrel! I'm out of town this weekend but I'll get some Monday.

New to me 1911sce smooth bore?

So, this is my second 1911 my other is a ruger commander and I like it a lot. I just got the s&w this morning and while cleaning it to get it ready for a range trip I notice the bore is smooth with no rifling! How the heck can this work? Do these barrels shoot cast lead bullets well? My first...

    M&P Shield .40 Ammo

Mine has fired everything I have tried in it. Neither mag has ever dropped. It has been totaly reliable and I trust it completly. I have used 165 Fed fmj, a lot of ww 180 jhp white box, and a number of lead handloads. I'm sure that I'm way over 1,000 rounds and no malfunctions yet, I love this gun!

Are You Happy With Your Shield

I have a 40 and it has quickly become my everyday favorite and I've been thru a few guns to get here. I've had a Kimber solo, a Sig p290, a Sig p238 and a Beretta Nano (which I still have). This Shield is the ulitimate in power and concealability for me. This one is a Keeper! I've put about 450...

S&W needs a Kimber Solo answer

I should add that this pistol shot well. I could hit with it even at 25 yards and the trigger was very nice. It was the easiest to carry 9mm subcompact I've ever carried. There were some types of ammo it didn't like. I had really high hopes for it but I wanted a carry pistol that I could put at...

S&W needs a Kimber Solo answer

I agree with GKC, only I actually owned one. I had about 500 rounds thru mine and found the recoil lugs on the top of the barrel and the underneath side of the slide were destroying each other, I was getting slivers of metal each time I cleaned it! Kimber refused to do anything about it, they...
