    45auto 1911 S&w sc

Plunger tube for the slide release/safety came loose twice. S&W fixed it for free both times. Mag catch failed once. Replaced it myself with a higher quality piece. I think the scandium frame guns are for carrying more than shooting.

Detroit PD M&P 40 from Aimsurplus

Well, I took the M&P out to shoot this weekend and found out that the reduced power striker spring that came with my Apex trigger would not set of the Nato primers on the 9mm ammo I had. I did not consider this and left the spring at home. Lesson learned.

6906 and magazine score at the local gunstore

I’m a pretty good customer and the owner initially asked me if I wanted any mags and showed me the bag full of mags. I raid his mag box every few months. I always let him know if there are rare and/or valuable mags in there and he gives me a good deal on mags I want. 7 of the 6906 mags are...

6906 and magazine score at the local gunstore

So my LGS knows I like 3rd gen S&W's and shows me a 6906 in decent shape. $395.00. Sure why not? It's one I don't have but also didn't have a ton of interest in. Came with a new spare grip. Do you have any extra mags? Sure, how many do you want? All of them......

Detroit PD M&P 40 from Aimsurplus

I hear ya, however I have had good luck with other 40’s such as the Sig P226 and I already bought the barrel so I am going to see how it shoots. This is not my primary defense gun so I’m not concerned. Thanks for the input though.

Detroit PD M&P 40 from Aimsurplus

I picked up a factory 9 mm barrel from Midway and some used 9 mm magazines from Gunbroker. Going to try it out in 9 mm next weekend. I also installed an Apex trigger which was a lot more work than I thought it was going to be. I had to take a considerable amount of plastic off of the back of the...

Detroit PD M&P 40 from Aimsurplus

Shot it today and it shot great. Trigger could be lighter but very accurate and 100% reliable. Still confused by the dimples in the underside of the slide.

Detroit PD M&P 40 from Aimsurplus

Picked up a Detroit PD S&W M&P 40 from Aimsurplus on a whim because I like former LE guns. The one I received for $320 was in excellent condition and came with the original box, 2 more backstraps and one magazine. It is marked "Detroit PD"on the top of the slide and "DPD1240" on the side of...

1076 grip woes and modification of 1006 grips

While searching for replacement grips for my 1076 I found absolutely none so I decided to take a crack at modifying standard grips to accommodate the de-cocking mechanism. It wasn't too hard using a milling machine. It could be done with a Dremel but I wouldn't be able to do it and have it look...

The wonderful convetible Large frame S&W semi-auto pistol

I picked up a former LE 4566 a few years ago and with the scarcity of new parts and affordability of parts kits, I picked up a few parts kits recently and assembled the perfect pistol kit. Pictured below is the 4566 frame with a 4516 upper on it, the original 4566 upper and a 4506 upper. All...

    1076 trigger/hammer malfunction

OK, So I just picked up a 1076 and when I press the decocking lever it only drops to half cock and the hammer does not sit flush with the back of the slide. It does have the two dots under the decocking lever. Shouldn't the hammer drop so that it is flush with the back of the slide like it...

New to me SW1911 Pro Series

The safety/slide release plunger tube came loose on mine. It also happened to my scandium frame S&W 1911 as well S&W fixed both fast and free. I have a lot of rounds through the scandium frame commander but not many through the officer length one. Both failed in less than 3-500 rounds. The...
