    Minty Automag II Came Home

I picked up a 4.5" Automag II a couple years ago. Didn't really need one, but it came with a second complete 6" slide, a bunch of spare parts, AND 500 rounds of .22 Mag ammo. It was a deal too good to pass up. I put it in the safe and didn't give it much thought. Now I'm inspired!

Recent events have forced me to change direction on my EDC

Well, I'm in agreement with the OP. Over my 32 year LEO career, I can't even remember all the latest and greatest off duty / back up guns I've carried (most of which I still have). God only knows how many holsters i have! So now I've been retired for 20 years and just had my 76th birthday. My...

    Any PPK fans out there?

Thank you to all for the photos and commentary. "HardKnocks" asked about the fitment of the wood grips. When I took the photo with my Iphone 6, I just slipped the one piece grip on and neglected to put the screw in. It appeared to be misaligned. The fit is actually quite good. While searching...

    Any PPK fans out there?

Last month I went to my granddaughters' wedding. It was a "Black Tie Affair" at a very ritzy venue. I'm not exactly a tuxedo kinda guy, but it was for my granddaughter. While I was being fitted for a rental Tux, I was feeling a little bit like James Bond. Unfortunately, I don't have a Walther...

    The mouse gun conundrum.

I have two S&W 61-3 "Mice" in .22 Long Rifle. One to shoot and one safe queen. Fun and inexpensive to shoot. For EDC? Not a chance! A Sig P365 gets the nod for self defense.

    Al Mar vs Randall

I was issued a Kabar knife when I went to Vietnam in 1969. It stayed with me for 13 months. When my tour was finally over I passed that knife on to a newly arrived Marine. I like to think he passed it on to someone else when he left. Most of us considered the Kabar as a "Combat Knife". The...

REVISED POST: You can only take one on the ark

I guess I'm kinda old school. I would go with my 1949 (Birth Year), 4", Heavy Duty with 12 rounds of 158 GR. SWCHP Buffalo Bore Heavy Duty rounds. Plus, it took me a really long time to find that particular gun!

    Newly acquired Centennial 40-1

I recently picked up a nickel Model 40 "Lemon Squeezer", Circa 1952. It came with the original box. The gun is in great condition, but alas, the grip safety lock pin is missing, as it is in so many of these guns. (I'm afraid my photography skills aren't up to taking photos of nickel guns and do...

Bill Jordan shooting the very first "Combat Magnum"

When I was a young Deputy back in the early 1970's, Bill Jordan wrote a book entitled "No Second Place Winner". It was about about "actual" gun fighting. The premise was, if you didn't win you were dead. It inspired me to be best I could be. I went on for a 32 year career. And now at age 75, I...

    LEOSA qualification 8/29/24.

There is a bill working it's way through congress entitled "LEOSA Reform Act of 2024" (H.R.354). It has passed the House 221-185 in May and is currently in the Senate Judiciary Committee. There are a number of adjustments where LEOSA certified retirees can carry that were forbidden before. Also...

    Two-Tone love?

Here is a rather unusual 629-5. It is 1 of 100 shipped to Lew Horton in December of 2000. Sorry about the sideways letter photo. I'm not very good at editting.

Multiples of exactly the same thing??

I'm embarrassed to say that I have multiples of 2 1/2" model 19's and 66's (like 3-4 of each) because I just like them, but they are different dash numbers. In my defense, I once bought a nickel 19, not because I needed another one, but because I really wanted the exceptional combat grips it...

Drinking my first cup of S&W koolaid

Maybe just my bad luck. Back when I was much younger, a "Friend" gave me 10 boxes of WW2 military surplus .45 ACP steel cased ball ammo. It was free, so what the heck. I fired some through my 1972 Colt Combat Commander. The first five rounds seemed excessively powerful. The sixth round ripped...

    Holsters for Sig P365

I've carried a Sig P365 in a Vedder AIWB Lite Tuck holster every day for over 3 years. Works perfectly for me. I also have a Hellcat with the same set up. If it works, don't mess with it.
