The Askins style 07 "Standard Border Patrol Holster" -- as opposed to Jordan style B17 -- is in my 1976 catalog but not 1970 or 1978.

The belt loop is metal reinforced in the front and held by screws so that the holster may be more easily attached to D ring belts and such.

Fit code 24 for 4 inch N frame.

Model B07 Standard Border Holster
Designed for medium and large frame
revolvers with 4 to 6 1/2 inch barrels, the
border holster is reinforced with a full
length metal plate, has a full body welt,
single retaining strap, plugged bottom
and sight protector. Available with
2 1/4 inch belt loop in black only, plain
or basket weave.

Basically the civilian version of the USAF issued holster by S&W in use when I entered the USAF in 1971.
Horrible holster. Metal reinforcement should have been on the back of the belt loop instead of the front. Guys (USAF cops) kept twisting the holster out by bending the metal in front and the rear of the belt loops got all worn out, causing the stupid screws to fall out. (Armory kept a dish of screws at the armory issue window)
I was at the S&W Academy in early 1974 for a course and talked to the factory "holster guy" about how much I hated this holster. He just shrugged his shoulders and said, "We designed a better one but the Air Force didn't want it."

As a collector I really enjoy hearing about actual practical use or misuse- thanks, John.
Regards,

Here is an S&W holster for a 624 3". It is marked "BLW 624" and S&W insignia on the back.

John, it's "low bid." I'm sure your years in LE taught you a great deal about that.

Bill

I have a couple but they're a bit newer than most of you guys' holsters.
First up is this black "BJC" pancake style that was made--to my understanding--for the 624 Lew Horton, similar to the "BLW" that was mentioned above by 3S16 and jimgoldth. Can anyone confirm with certainty this was for the 624 LH or provide any other information?
Now, I'm fudging a little on these others because they're technically a Galco Speed Scabbard and a Galco Thumb Break Scabbard, but Galco specifically branded some of these with the S&W Performance Center logo which were official accessories sold by S&W for the 327 PC as shown (as well as the 627 PC). After acquiring this gun a couple of years ago, after much scavenging online I was able to find both of these specimens over the course of a year and a half or so.

I won't prattle on about the idiotic gun laws up here in Canada, but I'm limited to an antique pistol if I want a defensive bush carry pistol. I have an excellent S&W 1st. Mod. DA in .44 Russian and I needed a good holster. Of all things, I acquired a Crossman holster for their 38T pellet pistol. With very minor tweaking, it turned into a perfect holster for my needs. Crossman!!!!! Go figure!

I just bought a S&W holster yesterday. It is basket weave and lined. The numbers on it are 22 34 W. I can't read the previous posted charts. Can anyone tell me what fits into this holster? Beautiful condition, $5 purchase.

I have a 27 34 that fits a 4" K frame. It is lined. Also a 21 43 that fits a 4" J frame. It is unlined. Here are pictures.

I just won a lot of 4 holsters in a local auction. Three are very good ones, and there's one cheap one in the lot. One is a Hunter 1100-14, one is extremely similar to it, one is Crossman like the one I posted earlier in this thread and one is an inexpensive leather holster that, frankly, looks like a not bad home made job. I'll post pics when I get them. From what I've seen, some saddle soap and a little TLC will have them looking quite tiddly.
