So I bought a set of N frame pachmayr presentation grips for my 27-2, I go to put them on and no-go. Its has like an 1/8 in. gap when screwed together. So I call PAC and they say I need to pay to ship them back and they will send me another set that could take up to a month. I try to buy US...

Also there is a seperate serial number on the crane and on the grip frame, which would lead me to believe it was an issued weapon not just sold at the PX. I'll post more pics soon.

What I don't get is the stasi symbol on the frame under the grips. It obviously wasn't just an import. They were a German type of gestapo organization. That's what has me confused.

It has another stamp under the grip which is the same symbol fond here on the flag Stasi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Is small can't get a good pic of it I had to get my mag glass out to see it I'm detail.

Also under the stocks it has a second serial number that's not on the butt and 2 more proofs on each side. I'm baffled!

I know on the 60's we sent garands, m1 carbines, and S&W revolvers to Germany to help secure the Berlin wall. I don't know if this may have been one of those pistols or not.

My 27-2 has Munich Germany proof marks? Any info would help on these markings.

The 27 S prefixes are bringing quite a premium lately. I think if you were to put it on GB you could get close to a grand. Everyone I've seen has been going for at least 850+

Will get pics up as soon as I can. Should have taken some at the shop. It was from a huge estate turn in consigned at a shop something like 40-50 S&W's, guess the guy was a collector.

I'll post pics on Thurs. when I pick it up. I know about the proof houses, bit I've just never seen another 27 with proof marks. I just wondered if anyone else has ran across one with them

I recently bought a S&W model 27-2 S prefix ( first 4 S268) from 1966-67 The revolver is in immaculate shape but it has one curiosity, it has Austrian proof marks on frame and barrel. I pick it up on Thursday and I'll get pictures of it up then. In the mean time has anyone seen this on a 27...
