1998 686-5 Trigger Pull & Old Age Problem

The Jerry Miculek <sp?> springs also get good reviews. I just installed them in my 66-8. Sent from my XT1058 using Tapatalk

[NEW PICS] Finally, a Model 66 with 2.75 inch barrel

Congrats! How is your DA pull? The pull in my 4.25" 66-8 is extremely heavy (12 lbs or so I'd estimate). Got JM springs on the way.

Thanks DBenn! My lot is 218115, bought some 3 weeks ago. May I ask what lot # did you get afterwards and was ok?

    Issues loading 357 HBWC

CamPro, made in Canada. I like them because they have a 0.008" plate tickness, so they can be pushed up to 1500fps. I have loaded thousand of them in 9mm, .45 and .357 TC with very good results. But not these ones...

Well, Houston... 158gr TC from the same brand are perfectly fine; time to send an email...

    Issues loading 357 HBWC

Yeah, I believe it's a combination of slightly larger projectile bases along with shorter cases not getting enough flare (longer cases work just fine). This would explain why I get a ~2% failure rate, rather than all the time. All right, I give up, got my Lee case length gauge and started...

    Issues loading 357 HBWC

You are onto something here. Most of my brass is in the 1.282-1.286 range; those hard to seat are often as low as 1.273-1.276 Is this... normal? I can work around this by flaring more, but then I'm over-working the longer cases. Throw away short brass or resize a _lot_ of pieces, hummm. Base of...

New 686-6 ... good to go?

I have both and enjoy them exactly the same. Newer ones have lifetime warranties, while older ones don't. Enjoy your gun!

    Issues loading 357 HBWC

Thanks all for your replies, much appreciated! I tried flaring a bit more and the issue is less frequent but still happens. At this point I believie Qc Pistolero is right (merci!): I have noticed that sometimes I have a slightly shorter case and I can tell as I place the bullet that it is...

    Issues loading 357 HBWC

Hello all, I have been reloading for a few years now (mostly 9mm, but also .45, 223 and 308) but only recently started loading 357 and I'm facing some issues. I'm loading plated HBWC but fom time to time (2 or 3 times per 100) I'm getting some crushed cases when seating (I seat and crimp...

    586 partridge sight shooting low

^That might be your problem. You should move the rear sight in the direction you want your point of impact to move; to move it upward, you need to raise the rear sight.

    Increasing Reloading Speed

I use the Hornady L-N-L; I can do about 300/hour (including filling primer tubes), visually checking every single round for powder presence (in 9mm I also use a lockout die). Priming on the LnL is actually one of its strong points, as they don't overflow (it only picks a primer if the previous...

    Opinion on 686 Plus Pro?

Well, here she is =D I know, I know, not the 686 Plus Pro. Deal went south (seller never replied) and since I already have a 586 I decided to go instead for the K frame 66. From initial inspection, all seems good to go!

    Opinion on 686 Plus Pro?

Tried to search, but couldn't find anything. I was just wondering what the general opinion is regarding the 686 Plus Pro? Performance Center(R) Pro Series(R) Model 686 Plus | Smith & Wesson I used to have a 627 PC, but could not get to grip it as I wanted, even with slim stocks, so I...

    New to me 686 help?

I personally shoot my 627 way better than my 586. In my particular case it's down the shape of front sight; for some reason it's harder for me to use the ramped front and I have to make a conscious effort to concentrate. That said, the 586 no dash has proven very accurate when I do my part.

    Seeking "better" L Frame stocks

+1 for Ahrends. I put Retro Combat on both my 627 and 686 and they made a big difference!

627 + smallish hands = which Ahrends grips?

I love my PC 627, however, it seems like I have medium-small hands and I just cannot get a high grip on it (has the factory rubber grips). If I grip it as high as I can, my strong hand is in a weird position and it plain hurts. I can grip it lower (about 1/4" from the top of the backstrap) but...

New to S&W; might have over done it... ?

I honestly don't know what happened... one day I was enjoying my latest 1911 acquisition and before I knew it I had sold it, along with a varmint rifle and now sitting in my safe there are a 1955 K22, a 586 no dash and a 627-5. How did this happen? K22 is just, well, gorgeous. 586 is a classic...
