    MEMES

Similar but different - years ago I had a clogged rooftop dryer vent in a house we had built. Inspection finally revealed a very, very fine screen over the exhaust in the roof cap. The contractor had added it as a bug screen. The problem was that it was finer than the lint trap screen in the...

    Best place to live?

Alabama. As I age, I prefer north Alabama over south and parts of central Alabama. We have our problems / issues, but firearms stuff doesn't seem to be one of them. As least for the law-abiding citizens. JMHO.

Jurassic Park in my back yard

A long time friend of mine is from Guatemala. He said down there, as a teenager, that he hunted Iguanas with a .22 rifle. They were hunted for food and skin. About the only thing that he ate were the tails, cooked by roasting over a fire.

    High Standard Supermatic

Nice looking pistol. I have a HS Series 102 Tournament that I inherited. They are excellent pistols. A word of caution - shoot only STANDARD velocity .22LR in them. Unfortunately, a slight design flaw in the frame can result in a cracked frame if you shoot a regular diet of High Velocity .22LR...

    CHOOSE KITCHEN KNIVES WISELY!

FWIW, I have a set of "Rada" brand kitchen and table knives. Stainless steel with aluminum handles. Reasonably priced and MADE IN USA as well. They meet all of my amateur culinary needs. Good luck.

We have some, from my late MIL's estate.

    250 Years

Essayons! I've done many military parades throughout the years. "Hurry up and wait is right", but it doesn't matter when you see the excited crowds. JMHO, YMMV.

    Protests close to home

Gullible, TDS-infected libtards. The dimwits don't realize that the majority of the things they are protesting were actually done before, mainly by the democrat presidents.

Don't offer anything free on FB Marketplace unless your ready for a hard time.

My late BIL was an OTR trucker for several years. He had quite a collection of truckstop VHS tapes, mainly horror / suspense genre, with a few "kinky-esque" thrown in. But there were a few "classics", westerns / old Hollywood / etc. that I kept. Still, after I removed my choices, it was a...

    Victory data base

Thanks for the replies. I'll probably get it lettered soon.

AI is really getting dangerous & scary!

This post is a little ironic. I just was tasked by my employer to complete an online course titled "AI, Phishing, and Cybersecurity", which mainly discussed the major security flaws currently in AI. Also, the course basically told us to verify everything "important" through multiple sources...

    Family or Inherited Guns

I have a Remington shotgun from my paternal granddad. I have a Winchester .22 rifle from my maternal granddad. I have a USGI M-1 carbine (NRA purchase) and High Standard .22 pistol from my maternal step-granddad. Finally I have a S&W revolver, that belonged to a maternal great-granddad. These...

    Victory data base

Trying this again. I got this Victory at a local show in July 2023. S/N is SV775003, with "US Property" and "GHD" on the top strap. I know it's a late production, just trying for more info. Thanks.

    MAY 18, 1980

Some HS friends had transferred out to McCord AFB with their USAF dad. They were camping on another mountain close by when it happened. They had to walk out on foot because the falling ash made it too difficult to drive. They also said they had almost camped on Mt. St. Helens, as they had...

The people stuck using ancient Windows computers

We still have my wife's IBM PS/2 that she bought around 1990. It was "high tech" at the time of purchase, with a 20MB HD and a 3-1/2" floppy drive. We've had it stored in a closet about 25 years. Its last uses were some genealogy stuff and playing archaic games like "Wheel of Fortune". It was...

    Fix it myself

Although I didn't really grow up "poor", money was tight enough to be mindful of how it was spent. It wasn't a perfect system, but as a result I am generally a "tightwad", or in other words, "thrifty". I started taking things apart as a kid and reassembling them. I eventually got an Engineering...

    Date of manufacture

Not to hijack this thread, but I have a Victory revolver I purchased about a year and a half ago. I posted about it on the big "Victory" thread, but didn't get a definitive answer. My S/N is SV775003, which I have deduced is sometime in 1945. Thanks.

    New format.

My biggest observation is the absence of advertising on the sides, top, and bottom, some of which would pop up while reading a thread.

    Real ID

In Alabama I had to show proper paperwork to have "Veteran" added to my D/L. Since I've done that, I'm curious as to whether I can go to my local D/L office and just have the "star" added without additional paperwork.

    Income Tax Time*****

I have used TT for several years, once I found out an accountant that I had been paying was using it as well. I access TT through USAA and get a (small IMHO) discount. Had to pay Fed again, which always seems to coincide with a Dem in the WH for the particular tax year in play. However, my...
