I appreciate the information. I've added a photo of the butt of the weapon minus the grips and indicating the serial number and there is no letter prefix so I wonder if it's an earlier revolver.

S&W model 34-1 .22 nickel chrome finish. Seems like a well made revolver model 34-1 4 inch barrel serial 16903 I'm not sure when it was made. Thanks

I did pull the grips to clean underneath and it does have the correct serial. Thanks

Any help identifying this model is appreciated. It's a single action and small weapon 22 short I'd guess. Serial 15465. More embarrassing is I can't figure out how to breach it open. Nothing is in the cylinder but how do I open this thing? Thank you
