I agree with bbqbob51, "if 6 is good then 7 is better". I don't have a 686 plus model yet but it's on the radar with a 6" barrel. Makes sense that the cylinder does not have to rotate as much and possibly trigger pull is shorter in DA mode? The 7-shot cylinder is definitely cool looking also...

There are some reported issues with bluing on new 29-10s as Bluedot37 points out and if that is the case, S&W will make it right - I've read the positive posts from people that have had their revolvers re-blued for this issue.
