What is the value of s&w 6906

Wish I lived in the N.O. or Baton Rouge area of the state. I'd love to be able find them that low in the central part of the state. They are about 100-150 more up here. I may have to go down your way to some gun shops if you could recommend a few.:) OP, as you see prices vary greatly even...

    Check your Bianchi Speedstrips

Made me go check my 10 year old speed strips, so far they still look good. I have a question about the verdigris though, if it forms on the outside does it form on inside as well ? While looking at the speed strips I found an old box of Speer 9mm 115 grain jhp, that I forgot about that's at...

    Model 4506

What I think is kind of weird is that most people desire the rounded S&W 3rd generation and snub the square or hooked trigger guard, but many of the same people own Glocks with basically the same square, hooked and longer trigger guards. Blasphemy I know, but I only own one Glock, a model 30...

    S&W 6906: available at AIM

It's a decent price and i'd love to have one, but 30.00 + for tax now and about 20.00 for shipping plus 25.00 transfer fee puts them out of my price range and since I can't see them before I buy one I don't know if I can risk it. Guess the 6946 will have to suffice unless find one at a final...

    19 9mms vs 9 .45s (HD)

Ziggy2525, just wanted to let you know Fort Polk is still as hot humid and miserable today as it was in 1973:eek: and if you were here in winter the continuous rain and sloppy mud is worse than ever. I'll be retiring from Fort Polk's hospital next month. Always cool to stumble across someone...

    Favorite 642 grips?

Actually, I have them on two of my j-frames. They pocket carry fine for me and are perfect for my big hands. I prefer them over wood. YMMV :) I think they're made by Hogue for S&W and are close to the old Uncle Mikes just a little slimmer, and you're right their not as sticky which makes them...

    Mika's Pocket Holster for 642

This thread reminded me that I need Mr.Mika to make me two Ruger LC9s pocket holsters for my son and myself. And possibly another S&W J-Frame holster. I emailed him on the contact page on his website today because I had a couple of questions to ask him before I was ready to order and he called...

Remington FBI Load .38 Spl+p LHP real world Performance in Snub

You're correct. I went to one of the regional Louisiana P.O.S.T. academies for 14 weeks and also attended Louisiana State Police training in the early 1980's. Using my model 66 and belt loops that was the standard here. Double tap was already well established as standard training then. I never...

    Load recommendation for woods carry

Ditto ! Killed one yesterday that was coming after me. He didn't quite make it. And no I wasn't crossing his path or bothering it. Moccasins don't need a reason to chase you I actually think they like to do it. This time of year they are very aggressive, at least they are here in Louisiana...

    .357 vs .38 split vs .38 S&W

I agree, I have no reason or desire to shoot .38 S&W from one of my .38 specials/.357 magnum revolvers.

    .357 vs .38 split vs .38 S&W

Gary, if you didn't or haven't, try several different rounds and see if the case sizes vary. Some may work. Because of this thread I just tried it in 10 S&W revolvers, older and newer, and found that the only box of current factory Remington .38 S&W I have varies in case diameter. A few fit...

    Almost sold my 642

These are the grips I would prefer as well. I have a worn out set on my police trade in 640-1 and they are perfect. OLDSTER or anyone else know where to find them ? Their not on the S&W site anynore.

Exactly when did the 5906's first hit the market?

Don't know if it helps, but I bought my first duty 5906 in January 1989. It has the square trigger guard with serial # TCH08XX.

    Help identify heirloom from Grandpa

I sure do. I was a young 19 year old working on a drilling tender in the Gulf of Mexico with a bunch of old time true born and bred coon@$%&**. My father was one of them and just happened to be the barge captain on the same rig with me. I brought a copy of it on VHS with me when my hitch...

Can anyone give me an approximate year when my 6946, serial # TFN38xx, was made ? I'm going to give S&W a call tomorrow, but thought I'd check here as well. Thanks in advance for any help.

    S&W 5906 magazine orientation

I need some help on which way he spring is oriented in my 5906 magazines. The picture attached is of two magazines from different times. The one on the left with the metal floor plate attached is an original from 1989 and the one on the right is from the middle to late 1990's. I received some...
