Howdy from a former NE Ohioan (Born in Warren). Welcome to the forum. As mentioned previously, great bunch of folks here who really know about S&W firearms.

    New member says Hi

Welcome from way northern California. North Dakotans are some of the best folks I've ever met; spent 3 years living on Minot AFB and one of my best friends grew up in Williston. Sorry to hear about your back but I'll bet your trigger finger still works like a charm.

    I love cell phones.

As a big fan of "plausible deniability" all I know is -- once it's online or in the cloud, it's there FOREVER. Thus I harken back to the days of land lines and hand delivered mail.

Is Sig becoming the new S&W of old?

Two of the three handguns on my CCW permit are a 9mm Sig P239 and a 9mm S&W M&P Shield. All I know is they're both accurate and fun to shoot. I usually carry the Shield because it's smaller, lighter and more comfortable tucked IWB. I guess I don't know if Sig is the new S&W, but I sure like...

Question for us CA gun purchasers....

Ron, I wish I knew the answer to your question. Having tried to understand the gun laws in our state for the past 15 years -- I've given up. FEW things in my life are this perplexing. Enjoy your new Bersa and Taurus.

What does your state call your carry "permit"?

In Shasta County, California, the Sheriff's Office refers to it as CCW (Carry Concealed Weapons) permit. The form itself (from the Bureau of Firearms which is within the state Department of Justice) says "License to Carry Concealed Pistol, Revolver, or Other Firearm Within the State of California".

And that folks is what makes this country great. An American gentleman and an Italian lady finding love and happiness in West "by God" Virginia. Congratulations on the first of many decades together.

Bought some Smith and Wesson stock

Well I hope you make a killing on your investment. The one thing I've learned in my 34,000 plus hours of studying stocks, bonds, funds, etc. is to expect the unexpected. Of note: the S&W CEO has sold about 580,000 shares of his company stock in the past few weeks.

    Always call the police?

Unfortunately in today's populated America my situational awareness and gauging the probability of perceived threats is a constant. And I HATE the fact that it's necessary for my safety and the safety for those I love and care about. That being said, no one knows for sure what they would...

Welcome. I purchased my second S&W a couple months ago (M&P Shield 9mm) and I'm very happy with it after a few hundred rounds down range. My first S&W purchase was a stainless Model 60 thirty years ago. If you haven't already noticed, there are a boatload of knowledgeable, helpful folks on...

    New M&P Shield Holster

Well you can't go wrong with a holster that has such a nice red, white and blue theme. And that phrase "We the People" has a very nice ring to it. Money well spent.

Handgun Hunting Ammo for S&W Model 586 (no dash)

Another vote for Buffalo Bore 180gr hard cast. Darn accurate out of my Ruger GP100. Since this is a S&W Forum, I'd bet it'll be even BETTER roaring out of a Model 586!

    Best pocket gun

Kahr P380 AFTER 500 rounds and it loosens up. Just out of the box, it's a nice looking but expensive paperweight.

.22LR Ammo quality after the drought

Eley .22lr ammo has worked well for me. I think it's manufactured in the United Kingdom. There is also a Remington/Eley .22lr which I don't think is as good. I agree that the ammo shortage and subsequent attempt to rectify it resulted in substantially reduced quality control for some ammo...

    What about Magtech Ammo?

A few years ago I bought four or five boxes of Magtech .38 special to use as practice rounds for my .357 magnums. As I recall, they worked well with no problems.
