Hello all. I just registered and am very glad to have such a valuable source of info for my new S&W Victory. I have been shooting for over 55 years, mostly smallbore. I actually bought my first S&W a few weeks ago and love it. I had been a Ruger handgun person until last year - Single Six Convertable, Mark II, Blackhawk .357 mag. and Super Blackhawk .44 mag.

I have shot smallbore rifle and handgun competitively both civilian and military MANY years ago, and have settled on .22 and 9mm handgun shooting nowadays. The old black iron sights give me a fit now so I use fiber optic and red dot with pretty good success.

I hope I'll be able to contribute and look forward to sharing data and experiences here.

Welcome from the far reaches of northern California. With your experience, you'll fit right in on this forum.

Welcome to the forum. Am interested in your thoughts on the new Victory.

I like the Victory quite a lot. The fiber optic sights are very helpful to my old eyes, but I have put a red dot on it recently and I'm having fun with that for right now. The pistol is very comfortable in my hand and I really think the weight and balance are very good. I find the trigger to be second only to my Buckmark - both are excellent, but I give a slight edge to the Buckmark. The stainless is nice to have, my Ruger Super Blackhawk was stainless and I really do prefer it. Takedown and re-assembly is quick and easy.

There have been many comments on another forum about the barrel screw backing out after firing a few hundred rounds, or less. I had that happen once to me, but it is easy to re-tighten. I have seen conflicting comments on whether the screw loosening is due to S&W's putting oil on it during manufacture. some folks say to totally clean the screw of ANY oil and put it back. Others say the oil is important. Even others suggest using a tiny amount of the weakest Locktite (purple, I think) on it. I'm confused - perhaps there are folks out there who might have input on that.

Bottom line - I really like the pistol, think it is a quality gun for the price, like the trigger and balance. All personal opinions, but that is what was asked for.
