    Pre M37 value estimate request

I just acquired this from an older gentleman for $350 and was wondering what it is worth on the market? Based on the excellent input from forum member Hondo44, it is pre M37 and was shipped around 1955. It appears almost unfired with just a hint of holster wear. Stocks are matched by serial...

    Help me identify my M37?

Thank you everyone for this great and detailed information. I did check for cracks and didn't find any. The original owner was over 80 and had rarely fired it. The side plate has three screws and were easy to loosen to pop the side plate off. It was very dry so I gave it some quality lube...

    Help me identify my M37?

I just picked this up today. All I know is it's a 38 SPL Airweight, probably a M37, and very vintage. Stamped on the frame and visible when the cylinder is opened is the number 30079 below the letter J. On the butt end of the grip is the serial number 61867. Can you guys tell me when it was...

    Flat Latch Model 36

I just picked up this no-dash model 36 with pinned barrel, flat latch, and thin-blade sight. Original blued finish and wood grips both still looks good as shown in the pictures. Original owner was a California Highway Patrolman who bought this new as his off-duty gun. I was hoping someone can...

Is $1,150 a fair price for a 629-5 Classic DX?

Gentlemen, I appreciate the good advice from all and will let this one sit awhile at the pawn shop and offer $1000 later. In the meantime, I will enjoy my two recent additions: I got these for under $700 each locally (not including the red dot on the 629-3 5") just in the past couple of...

Is $1,150 a fair price for a 629-5 Classic DX?

Here are some pics of the 629-5 with the included stocks: I'm not sure if these are the original stocks; I neglected to ask the dealer. The black hogue grip was not part of the set.

Is $1,150 a fair price for a 629-5 Classic DX?

Well, I thought I consult with the experts again and get your opinions about this particular 629-5 available at a local pawn shop. It's the DX model, 6 1/2 inch with wood grips, and comes with the original blue case, test target, four front sights, and manual. I examined it today and it looks...

I didn't own a single revolver up until last summer and now I'm starting to hear "do you really need another one?" from my significant other. I won't blame you guys though. ;)

Had to get another 44 Mag today

Based on some great advice on this forum, I recently acquired my first 44 magnum, a 629-3 5-inch Classic last week and put a Leupold red dot on a Allchin scope mount. Well, as many of you have experienced, one is never enough. I was fortunate to find this 629-5 4-inch at a local pawn shop...

Need some advice on first 44 Magnum purchase

Update on my new 44 mag Well, I thought I post my latest update of my S&W 629-3 Classic. I replaced the Leupold scope with a Leupold Delta Pro red dot: The red dot is mounted on a Allchin Smith & Wesson Mini STS Scope Mount. I was very impressed with the quality of this mount and it made...

Need some advice on first 44 Magnum purchase

Sold the Leupold sight I just sold the Leupold scope and mount for $260 on ebay. So my net cost on this revolver is around $650. I'm now in the hunt for a red dot and looking hard at the Leupold Delta Point Pro with the AllChin Mini STS Scope Mount. More to follow.

Need some advice on first 44 Magnum purchase

Yes, it came with the stock rear sight. It was missing the little square elevation stud and hole plugs so will have to track those down with a supplier.

Need some advice on first 44 Magnum purchase

Here it is... Well, I came home last night with the one that I mentioned at the beginning of this thread. I did a quick cleaning and swapped out the original Hogue with this set that came off of my 627. I was wondering if someone can tell me when it was manufactured (serial number is BNY8427)...
