Is a Sherpa-lined gun rug safe for storing a gun as far as moisture goes? I believe it's made of polyester.

I put a tiny dab of grease on the center of the star, don't know what you would call it. It's the part that holds the cylinder shut. Seems to glide a bit smoother. I see on the gram where it's kind of leaving a track, I guess with time it will smoothen out. Thanks for the advice and for sharing...

Just picked up my new 686 and the cylinder is kind of hard to open and sometimes difficult to close. I made sure everything is lubed up nicely but is still somewhat difficult to open and close. Impregnated with what? BLO? Tung? Called s&w and the gentleman didn't really seem to know. He said to clean them with Break Free.

Is there any benefit to using linseed or tung oil on poly finished grips?

Thanks for the input folks. I'm looking for something to use every time after the range. I would imagine that wax would build up if used that frequently. Do you guys wipe down your grips with anything between wax applications? Maybe pledge or murphys oil soap?

I placed an order for a new 686 6in deluxe and am curious as to what I should use to maintain the wood grips on it. From my understanding, they are either poly or laquer finish (correct me if I'm wrong) so using tung or linseed oil would be pointless. I like to clean my firearm after every use...
