Shield Plus: Can't Remove the Slide

Here's the fix The fix is in this thread.... Fix Your Shield Before It Fails!!! S&W never seems to re-engineer to fix its failures.

Anyone w/ rust issues new Shield Plus?

Since my first S&W stainless revolver in 1966, I have never seen such a rusted gun as that one. There is definitely a hidden story here.

Anyone w/ rust issues new Shield Plus?

I may not be the biggest fanboy of S&W lately but... I've owned and carried on the job, in coastal Florida salt environment, for more than 45 years, many Smith & Wesson's, including Shields and revolvers, and I have never seen rust on any of their stainless steel guns, period. Somethings fishy...

NO MAGS = NO SHIELD PLUS

Well, I really loved my new Shield Pluses - All 6 of them, BUT.... As usual, Smith & Wesson just can't seem to get its act together, this time with Shield Plus magazines, so.... Yesterday, I sold all 6 Shield Pluses and bought 4 new Hellcats and 2 new Ruger LCP Max .380's. Tomorrow, I'm gonna...

New Shield+ vs. All the Other Micro 9's

Hi. Thanks for all the nice comments. I really think the Shield Plus is a huge step forward for S&W. As for the Ruger Max 9, I thought it was a little clunky and rough compared to the more expensive micro 9's. It's a little thicker, heavier looking, less-refined. I didn't like the looks or feel...

New Shield+ vs. All the Other Micro 9's

As you can tell from my old posts a few years ago, I was pretty down on S&W because of the range of quality and functional issues my many Shield 1.0's had. I sold them all and put S&W in my rear view mirror for good - or, so I thought. I chuckled to myself that S&W must have paid a handsome sum...

    Replacing Takedown Lever Spring

Unfortunately, you must remove the locking block completely to properly install the new spring. Check the Apex and YouTube websites for helpful videos. Apex makes the perfect removal jig so you don't beat up your frame. Good Luck.

New Shield 380 EZ... Nope. Junk.

How dare you come to the S&W Forum and post such a negative and incendiary honest personal opinion about the new 380EZ? We here all know that everyone must love everything that S&W designs and markets, if for no other reason than it's a SMITH & WESSON!!! And, how dare you criticize the...

M&P shield 45 fails to feed intermittently

Well, Mr. FloridaS&W, Thank You for responding to my above post that proved, once and for all, that I actually did purchase all eight 45 Shields despite your continuing (over 1 year) repeated false claims that I somehow "made it all up" (your words). And, Thank You for displaying your leftist...

M&P shield 45 fails to feed intermittently

Oh, Boy! The Smith & Wesson Supreme Kool-Aid Slurper himself, FloridaS&W, just can't let an opportunity slip by to discredit other forum members for reporting problems with their S&W products. He's at it again! He says "I pretty much threw everything "NoNothin" said about the Shield 45 a long...

For those having FTF issues with their 45 Shield.

Well, the Chief Kool-Aid Drinker himself, Mr. FloridaS&W, just can't let anyone who doesn't WORSHIP all that Smith & Wesson shoves out the door have his say. Mr. FloridaS&W has NO CREDIBILITY or objectivity in ANY of his responses as you read through his hyper-defensive posts and demeaning...

For those having FTF issues with their 45 Shield.

A little fuel for the fire.... 1. I bought and sold eight new .45 Shields since last April, 2017 and ALL of them failed me with intermittent failures-to-feed with ALL ammo and ALL magazines, even with NEW followers and all the tricks/fixes outlined in this forum tried, but to no avail. 2. I...

    Ammo Observation with Shield .45

Hunter, you're having the same nose-dive misfeed problem that others like me have had with the 45 Shield. These misfeeds will randomly happen with all kinds of ammo if you shoot it enough. The followers are not the issue. Yes, Champion is low power ammo compared to WWB and HST but finicky 45...

    Shield 45 FTF mystery w/pix

I share your opinion, thoughts and most of your 45 preferences on this topic. Just in case you missed it in my lengthy posts, I changed all my mag followers to the newer grooved followers with no improvement in feeding reliability. I never did have the mag dropping that the followers are meant...

    Shield 45 FTF mystery w/pix

I apologize to you for derailing your thread with the side trip we took with my KoolAid-drunken stalker. I hope his shrink gives him his Zoloft refill very soon. As you have observed, there doesn't seem to be a discernable cause of this failure to feed nose-dive problem. As you read through...

    Shield 45 FTF mystery w/pix

I'm a longtime trained, experienced and competitive shooter but, as you so rightly suggest, trying different things to better understand a problem is a good thing to do. Therefore, during the time I had these 45 Shields, I had three other highly experienced shooters fire most of them. Everyone...

    Shield 45 FTF mystery w/pix

As I posted here and in prior threads, I bought six 45 Shields during the $75 cash rebate period between April 1st and June 30th. I bought the first 3 in April, which all failed me with nose-dives, etc. so I sold them to a gunsmith friend who said he could fix them. I don't keep guns that fail...
