Just reading old posts about top strap cutting. Do they replace gun if top strap becomes unsafe? Mine has a small 1\2 inch mark on strap ,so I am guessing I have a ways to go before it even becomes a concern.thanks guys

Thanks guys, nothing is wrong with it , I was just curious. I starting reading old threads on here last night and it got me thinking. Mainly top strap cutting. Would they replace gun if top strap got unsafe?

Was I supposed to register my 500 with smith to have the warranty?

I'm not parting ways with my 83/8 barrel that's for sure.

Hey guys thinking of trading my 4 inch 500 in at LGS tomorrow. It is just the way it left Smith factory less then a year ago. I put roughly 200 rounds through it. I know they gotta make money on it, I paid 1235.00 for it. What do you think? Thanks

Cmj8591 ,I believe you are correct. I took my 4 inch 500 this morn . I brought 5 rounds , 3 went da the other 2 had to be hit sa. I examined the 2 that would not go da and can clearly see the primers are not sitting even in the pocket. . well at least I only have 300 rounds left of the problem...

I will def look at firing pin tomorrow. I just got back from range. I loaded up 5 325 grain armscor rounds. 4 fired da Again one I had to sa it.

I took it to range right before dark . I fired it 5 times. 4 went bang da. 1 would not fire da . it did fire in sa.

Pizza bob yes there are FP marks . right in the center of primer.if I try same round again in da it will not fire,try the same round in sa and bang she fires .the da hit on primer is pretty stout looks like it should fire ,I guess the sa is hitting it a tad more.

Ralph , I just recently started shooting them both in da ,after I took a ccw course and have been practicing out of holster .. I took course with my SIG 9mm sa/da . so I got a holster for my 4 inch barrel and have been trying out of holster with that.. I do not plan n carrying 500 but we can...

I bought both 500s brand new. Zero parts changed on either. I checked screw under grip it is tight.

Factory trigger and springs . reman from cheaper then dirt . they fire everytime in the 4 inch 500. The 83\8 fires everytime in sa . won't fire at all in da. Tryed some fusion ammo same result.
