It's a defect not a feature which is why S&W sends replacemens to people. It's supposed to sit flush. The idea of it being a standoff device is nonsense.

My LGS finally got a BG 2.0 and after handling it at the counter, I walked away from it. Along with the front sight not being centered, the slide had a gritty feeling and wouldn't go into battery after racking it. There is no way I could trust something like that.

Load and unload the mags a couple dozen times and the springs will soften up. Leave them full while in the safe too. It's pretty normal these days, ever since manufacturers have been jamming every possible round into the magazine.

You're probably better off getting a non-optics ready version and then getting it milled by a reputable company to fit exactly the optic that you want. I'd recommend either the Holosun 507K with the ACSS reticle or otherwise the Holosun EPS Carry with whatever reticle you like.

I've had issues with their warranty department

Now his thread is gone. He was having problems with FTF but was refusing to go to the range to break it in. Hopefully he stopped playing with live rounds in the house and hopefully the BG 2.0 is going to be a reliable option.

I'd be surprised. It might be different this time but typically S&W has a difficult time discontinuing old models and they keep them in production.
