    Checkered Walnut Service Stocks?

SCSW 5th says that they were manufactured with "Checkered Walnut Service Stocks". I have already lettered this revolver and the letter states "Checkered Walnut Square Butt Stocks". I have looked at many pictures and I agree with your conclusion that the PC Magnas were probably the factory issue.

    Checkered Walnut Service Stocks?

Are these grips "Checkered Walnut Service Stocks" (as per SCSW 5th) that would have been the factory original grips on a Model 681? Thanks in advance.

I got a DENIED the other day...

There is (was) a guy in Ohio with my exact name and DOB. I found out when he had a heart attack and all his medical bills got charged to my insurance.

What was your first Smith and Wesson??

Yep! She also got the house and more than enough money to make the mortgage payment every month. Divorce ain't cheap!

What was your first Smith and Wesson??

Model 19-3. I had to sell it when I got divorced and my ex-wife ended up buying it. Imagine that, she had extra money and I had to sell it because I needed the money. Fortunately, she sold it back to me years later. I think it cost me twice what she paid for it but, fortunately, I got it back...

Mini Rant - Drive right, pass left!!

One must be careful when trying to train left lane drivers. Back in the 80's, I was driving an unmarked troop car in the passing lane of the interstate when an individual came up behind me and flashed his headlights for me to get out of his way. I promptly moved to the right lane, let him pass...

    Any Weatherby Fans Here?

UPDATE - I bought a Timney trigger for a German model Mark V. The bolt stop was too large to fit through the receiver so, Timney had me mail the trigger to them, they made the modification at no cost and sent it back to me. I still had to take it to a local gunsmith because the new trigger was...

Used a Winchester Shotgun to cut down a tree branch

I was target shooting with my father probably 40-45 years ago. We came across a smaller pine tree covered in small pine cones at the base of a hill, which afforded us a backdrop. We had my father's Model 18 (which is now mine), and he started shooting the pine cones off the tree. He would shoot...

    First year pre 29

But we all WISH we could buy a Pre-29 today for $1,022.11. I don't think these old S&W's conformed to the inflation rate.

    Pre-29 Presentation Cases

This revolver is from a collection that was owned by a 90+ year old gent. Possibly made in 1956 and not shipped until 1957. I'm betting that S&W was using up cases when they shipped this one. Like you say, I'll know when I letter it.

    Pre-29 Presentation Cases

I have this GB item 1114799630 on the way. After several questions to the seller about condition, it appears to need a good cleaning and Ren Wax. Serial number puts it at a 1957-1958 ship date. As I look at the pictures of the presentation case, it looks like a pebble grain black case with the...

    Pre-29 Presentation Cases

I recently saw a post that had pictures and descriptions of the Pre-29 leatherette cases and latches. I've been searching for it and can't find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

So, My Wife's 45 Year Old Visiting Nephew Sits At The Table And Asks Me.....

I worked with several guys who left their uniforms out in the locker room because their lockers were full of guns that they didn't dare take home because their wives would find out about them.

Were you law enforcement in the 70’s-80’s? What did you carry?

When I started at a local PD in 1982 the issue weapon, believe it or not, was a 1929 vintage .38 caliber Colt with a lanyard in the bottom of the grip. That PD was a little behind the times with a Mayor that was tighter than bark to a tree. Needless to say, I carried my personally owned Model 19...

    Sight Adjustment Tool for Pre-29

I have seen conflicting information on this topic. Which sight adjustment tool would have shipped with a 1957 shipped Pre-29? Thanks in advance.

    PatriotX earns an A+

I know that I am late with this but, better late than never. I purchased an NYSP Model 681 a while back from PatriotX. The best part was that, the one that I bought from him, was one serial number before the one that I carried on the job. Another knowledgeable and straight-up guy to buy from...
