So I went ahead and made my own.

HKS Speedloaders (3)
HKS Speedloader Holder (1)
Safariland CD-2 Speedloader Holders (2)

I already had all the HKS Stuff, so while I was at Cabela's, I checked out the "Bargain Cave" and found these Safariland CD-2 Holders on clearance for 5 bucks, I bought them knowing that they are NOT IDPA legal... however I figured I could make a legal one out of them using my HKS holder.

Here are my results. Total cost was 40 dollars including all the previous HKS Stuffs. I still need to clean up the edges and make it looks a little nicer, but in its current state it works really well.

IDPA Rules?
From what I can tell IDPA decided right off the bat to make the Safariland CD-2 and 333 carriers illegal for IDPA Match use. At the time IDPA made up the original rules Safariland had the ONLY speed loader carriers that were really useable for speed reloading. The 333 was and is still made to fit a duty belt, and I have seen the 333 used for duty carry in years gone by. It is plenty secure, and making it illegal was bogus. Cut down into a single and a double they are more concealable than a North Mountain. I do not see retention being an issue either.

I have 6 of the CD-2's on my dresser. Two have Comp-2's that are plain (38 Special 135 short barrel) Two have Yellow dots on the Comp-2's ( K Frame 357 Magnum 135 short barrel) and Two have Green Dots on the Comp-2 ( L Frame 135 short barrel)

I carry my reloads every day in the CD-2's and over the last 3 years I have lost 1, and it was a 30+ year old one that the belt clip was not real snug on. I had moved it forward to get in a pants pocket, and not returned it into position infront of my pancake holster.
The CD-2's work fine, and the fact that Safariland still sells them after all these years tells me lots of folks are still concealed carrying reloads in them.

Now in ESR the SAM (Shoot A Moon) carriers are legal, and are almost the exact same carrier as a CD-2 with a center post added. Go Figure.

Looks like an interesting project. I am sure after a little more finish work it will look great, and make you a very useable carrier for your HKS speed loaders.

I have been making several carriers lately for the HKS Speed Loaders. They do not make Comp-3's and Jet Loaders for everything. Then we have the guys who have been using HKS for years, and they see no reason to change. My next ones up are for the Model 10 HKS speed loaders (K Frame 6 shot 38 Special). A new ICORE Classic shooter dusting off his old Model 19 Smith & Wesson.

I am just finishing the last 2 of a run of 10 for the 22K HKS speed loaders. They are for the 6 shot S&W K-22 revolvers. We have a Club Rimfire Division in our local ICORE Match.

HKS is still alive and well.

Yeah, when I saw that CD-2s were not legal but the exact same style for moonies were, I just laughed.

CD-2s are nice, small and secure. Far easier to conceal those than my HKS pouch.

I got tired of pulling up those straps on the HKS pouch and was going to cut them off only to realize they wouldn't be held in by anything but gravity.

Enter the CD-2s. According to the silly rules any speedloader holder (except the moon clips), must cover at least 65% of the speedloader body. Well, I just covered up the sides with the HKS pouch ;)

Thanks for all your input, in agree with pretty much everything you said :)

The safariland 333 does come with a 1 3/4 inch belt loop too, still illegal though.
