Internet Shield Match
This, a continuation from a thread in the M&P Pistol section. Here:
Shield Internet Match.. Anyone?
There seems to be enough interest to get this going. So, here's the basic rules:
10 yards, 10 rounds, 2 hand standing (if possible), unsupported, no time limit, deadline for entry is 1 Mar. target is:
http://www.whidbeyarms.com/assets/im...e%20Target.pdf
Print (full size) on 8 1/2 X 11 paper, or card stock
10 points for the 1" ring, 9 for the 2" ring... and so on, down to 4 points for the 7" ring, no points for anything outside of 7" ring, any shot touching a ring (liner) will count as being in higher scoring ring, the shooter calls their own liners and doubles.
Firearm must be a S&W Shield, (in either 9mm, or .40), your choice of ammo, if using a laser just state so.
Post (in this thread) a picture of target and firearm, together, and your score written somewhere on the target.
I'll clarify anything by editing this post, as needed. It's all for fun.

Do we get a sub zero temperature handicap? This sound like a lot of fun and when I am able to get on my range I'll compete. Thanks for setting this up, good idea. I have to admit though my arms are nine feet long.

Sheiss. I do not own a Shield or a 9mm or a 40.
I do own lots of 38s and a couple semi auto 45s.
Looks like good time.

The 3913 is kinda like an old Skool shield, right?

LCP in 9mm short? (Kurz)
My only other option is a LW Officers ACP. That is not a shield.
Lets see some targets!

ChiefStealth, this looks like a fun thread. Alas, I have no shield, so I'll just spectate.
Thank you for the target link! I printed some of these out at work. When I checked the rings with a scale, things weren't quite right. My error: my printing default was set on "fit page". When I wised up, that made things right.

The target link was provided by forum member Semper Praesidio. Another good source for targets is FREE TARGETS from TARGETZ.com Lots of good stuff there.
I'll be hittin' the range this Saturday. Got a hundred 124gn loads with Titegroup all ready to go.

17 yards, 44 special Bulldog.
Automatic disqualification .
Thanks for the tip of not printing to page size .

If there is any GSR on the targets, we'll all know if anyone cheated.

Okay, here's an actual target relevant to the thread. I haven't shot slow fire with the Shield in a long time. Usually it's pretty quick at a small silhouette target 10 to 15 yards. My goal was to put 10 shots in the 9 ring. Didn't come close, but at least I hit the black with 10. Score was 90, but hoping to improve on that before the end of the month. There's 3 shots together at the 6 o'clock of the 10 ring. All 3 touch the 10 using a bullet as a gauge, plus the one at 10 o'clock. Will try it again next week.

Pretty good shootin' there! You kept 'em all in a 3in circle. So, there is our first official entry. Score of 90. Enter often.

Hit the range last night. Not a winner, but not bad considering how small the target is. 10 yards, cheap Remington 115 gr.

The top pic is the target still on the backer.
The bottom pic is per the rules here. Feel free to critique my scoring.

Ugh - not a good day at the range. Target not really even worth posting. Everybody else's targets are looking pretty good though!

Mine is bone stock unless you count the Pearce mag baseplates and the Lasermax (which I hardly ever use) My trigger is 5 lb 7 oz. (After 2000 rd)

Mine is bone stock as well but I need to shoot it more frequently. I bought it from a police officer that only put a couple of hundred rounds through it. I've only put about 100 through it. It's as stiff as a board

Last and official entry. A little better since the lighting was better(other people at the range beside me = more lights), and I used different ammo.
I also shot the same target at the same distance with my Model 65 I just got back from my local gun smith.
Not as good, but I shot this using strong hand only. The grips look nice but are terrible for shooting IMO.

Been to the range and I'm upping the ante with a 94. 6-10's but still can't avoid a couple of 8's. The 2nd target is just showing off my group. Too bad most of it's in the 9 ring. Plus with 7 shots in one hole I can't really score it accurately. I think it's at most a 93, so I'm going with the other one.

OK folks. Last weekend for this competition. All posts on, or before March 1 will count. Winner will be declared on March 2. Looks like 94 is the score to beat. A lofty goal, but someone can beat that! Personally, I'm gonna try a different load. Maybe a different powder will tighten up my groups. Good shooting!

I made it back to the range today and shot well enough to post here.
Here is my target still on the backer.
And here it is off the backer with pistol and info.
I am calling this 97. Looking at this, the hole at 4 oclock might have touched the 10 ring, but with it shot up like that, I cant tell, so I'll call it a -1. Then there are two holes at 12 oclock in the 9 ring.
I have got to find a better way to hang these targets, they are getting too shot up. But they are grouping nicely!!

OK. Here's my last entry for this month. Some improvement from the last one. Tried some loads with Bullseye instead of Titegroup. The BE sure does shoot "softer" than the TG. I was really trying to get to 90. It was a sunny day, but the wind was blowing and my eyes were tearing up.

Not many participants? Obviously, folks have not yet read the list of fabulous prizes being awarded in our competition.
And, speaking of prizes... First place, for the month of February goes to... drum roll... Seanhagerty with a score of 97. Wow! Good shooting! There were a few other scores in the 90s, which is still darn good shootin'.
The rules committee is now accepting recommendations for competition for March. Y'all want a different target? Different distance?

Thank you sir. I accept this award with all the honor and glory associated with such a momentous event.
Unsupported standing two handed, 10ea X 1 inch dots at 3 yds?

Now there's an idea. Let the winner call the next challenge target. I participated in an on line competition for awhile on another site that did just that. It turned out pretty interesting and fun.

Using my thoughts on the target may be a tough way to decide who wins.
I will bow to any other thoughts on target for this month.
