Default ICORE Match Saturday 6/8 - SE PA

ICORE stands for International Confederation of Revolver Enthusiasts. Lower Providence Rod & Gun Club (LPRGC) has been trying to get ICORE matches off the ground. The MD has succeeded  in convincing the BOD of the club to devote the second Saturday of the month to this endeavor. If they do not get a large enough turn-out for these matches, all his hard work may go for naught.

ICORE is kind of a cross between IDPA and USPSA, but is contested with revolvers. Here is a link to the rules that explains the Divisions and equipment needed.

LPRGC is located very near where the Oaks gun show is held. When you get off the ramp, from 422W, you turn right instead of left. About a mile or so down the road is the entrance to the club is on the left. Below is the link to register...

Grab that revolver, that has only been gathering dust, and put it to good use. Right now there are only 5 people registered for this match and that my shooting buddy and myself.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

It was like having our own private match. Only 7 people, but in the interest of promotion, the match was held anyway.

Great fun! Four classifier stages, since many shooters are trying this for the first time, plus a "fun" stage - 5 paper targets, 3 pepper poppers, a plate rack and two, yes two, Texas stars.

There are ambitious plans for ICORE at this venue, come on out and make them come true. Here is the LPRGC ICORE web page

ICORE :: Lower Providence Rod & Gun Club

Easily accessible from the PA Turnpike, close to Valley Forge and the King of Prussia Mall.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

Hi Bob,

Always open to trying a new game. Went to the ICORE site, but got little guidance.

What could be a typical course of fire?
How much ammo is required?
What type of gear (holster/speedloaders) are legal and required?

Thanks!

Not the most intuitive site, but if you snoop around, you'll find the answers to all your questions. In the top header, go to "Tools" and you'll get a drop-down menu that includes a catalog of classification stages. Also the rule book is there.

On the main page there is a link for the stages for the Postal Match - I believe that LPRGC intends to shoot the Postal Match, plus a fun stage (similar to what I described in my second post) for July's match.

Equipment is pretty wide open. Holster has to cover the trigger and carry the gun so the heel of the butt is above the bottom of the belt. Also must be secure (hop test).

Guns must be .32 Mag or larger. All ammo must have a minimum 120 power factor (bullet weight x velocity / 1000). Divisions are: Classic - 6-shot loaded with speed loaders, speed strips or singly / Limited - 8-shot loaded with moon clips / Limited 6 - 6-shot loaded with moon clips / Open - Pretty much anything goes, optics, comps etc.

There is more, but you can find that in the rules. I use the same rig for ICORE as I do for USPSA...

...but there are many options open to me. I could use the guns I use for IDPA, they would just require more loading devices.

Come on out and give it a try - next match at LPRGC should be 07/13 - watch their web page.

Adios,

Pizza Bob
