Are there any knives from Smith that are still made 100% in USA? Or anywhere to get american made smith knives?

Is there any difference in quality or value?

Ebay is always a good source of S&W knives made in the USA. You could call the factory Customer Service Dep't and ask for the Licensing Division to see what might be current in any vendor licenses to make S&W knives, here or overseas. Taylor Cutlery has been the main provider of S&W knives, under license, and most of their knives have been made in China. Quality has improved over the years, however the collector market for S&W knives recognizes a higher value for USA made knives. Taylor produces 100s of S&W marked knives, and not all samples are accepted by the factory for S&W knife issues, so not every S&W marked knife you see for sale is a factory authorized knife. Some discount stores and knife dealers offer many varieties of S&W marked knives at substantial discount from factory list prices, which can make these knives a bargain, regardless of where they may have been made. Ed.

What type of knife?

If you like traditional folders and sheath knives, Case and Great Eastern are still 100% US made. Pretty sure Queen is too.

There are others including some of the more modern ones, but I can't think of them off the top of my head.

USA Made

Case
Great Eastern (GEC)
Canal Street Cutlery
Queen (Queen, Robeson, Schatt & Morgan, Also Ontario)
Buck ( Not all Bucks are USA made)
Camillus ( Out of business but they can be found )

I'm pretty sure Utica is making knives in the US. They are pretty nice looking traditional folders and moderately priced, less than Case and GEC in most patterns.

Some Moore Maker knives were made by the late, lamented Camillus (who also made some Buck pocketknives). Don't know who makes them now, or even if they're still in business, but they offered very nice knives that were all U.S.A. manufactured.

Mike, Bear makes some of the Moore knives now. Bear is in Alabama and I think all their knives are made there. Not real high end but decent knives. So that's another US made brand.

Queen was making some of the nicer Moore knives. Not sure if they still are.

I think the poster's question related only to Smith & Wesson knives, however, as noted above there are dozens of American made folders on the market, from very high end, like William Hunter, to inexpensive but good quality examples from Buck, Case, etc. Ed.

I was only asking about smith knives. I'm aware of quite a few other knives manufactured here.

You could check with Blue Ridge to see what they may have. I think there was a company in Mansfield that licensed the S&W name to put on a few knives. But they were never in the Taylor Catalog. If there is a difference some of the Upper state NY steel, along with German and Philippine steel has a natural high carbon content. The new process adds carbon to the steel so that the steel is harder and not so soft. For the most part when Camilus went out of business that was the end of the American made S&W knives. I wish I could go back to that auction. They sold really good and I did not buy nearly enough of them.
