Picked up these two patches. Guessing they are from the 1950’s . Has anyone seen these before

I’m no expert by any means…but they could be aftermarket rather than official S&W patches…or reproductions of official patches.

Not to worry. They are original factory patches. Here are some from my collection. I have over 200 factory patches. Do watch out for repros. You'll notice they are of a poor quality as opposed to the originals.

Thank you , I knew they were old and are quality made. I have collected patches from gun companies off and on since the late 1970’s . Got back into a few years ago when I noticed some patches in an estate sale. As older collectors are dying off their children or grandchildren don’t want the stuff and you can sometimes pick stuff up cheap as the Estate Sale companies don’t know what it is.

I got it from my girlfriend Katie at OSR (Out Side Repair) back in the 1980's. She found it in an old desk draw when they cleaned out the tunnel. I used to go there at least once a month. I'd stop at the guard house and they would usually just wave me through, no security checks. I had a Visitor badge they let me keep. I always honored their trust in me. Did nothing stupid.

I was driving a BFI Dumpster after hours. I made sure I used one that just came from a fish store, good and smelly! Guards would stay 50 feet away. And you said I wasn't smart.

No patches but I do collect club shooting medals. I’m partial to the Colts. Good old days. Where did I park my Time Machine?

There are a nice variety, Dallas, Oakland, Greater New York, El Paso, Connecticut and some clubs and matches that would take some research to find out where they were held. I was planning on a shadowbox to display them along with a couple of my awards.

From 1966 through 1985 Smith & Wesson sponsored the police pistol match for the Captain Weber Days in Stockton, California.

The box in a reversed photo looks like it is from V.A. Blackington & Co Inc in Attleboro Falls, Mass you might be able to find out who they made it for. I might be wrong on the name but I’ll have to find the medals tomorrow.

There are patches on ebay for every year around the patch you have for CT state pistol championship, but not 1964!
Was curious as to what it was. I see all states around had them. It was a State shooting event?

Maybe a nickeled pistol that was soaking in Hoppes #9 a little too long? Fortunately it was cleaned up before more disappeared...

The red patch and this blue one were worn on Smith & Wesson employees suit coats when they were at shows, meeting with customers or at Shot Shows. They were sewn on the the coats which were provided by the factory. They are extremely rare. They are made of gold wire and heavy cloth. I paid $200.00 for Milton Walsh's patch. He was a sales rep for Smith & Wessons Law Enforcement line.

Those are some great patches Don and thanks so much for sharing.
I’m hoping someday to come across one of the 44 mag bison head patches.
They’re almost like looking for chicken lips.
Best regards,
Jake

Exactly how rare are the model 41 patches? I'd like to try and find one for my oldest niece who shoots her husband's grandfathers 41 weekly at their gun club.

Back when I was picking up some vintage S&W patches, I looked and looked for a 1956 .44 Magnum Buffalo Head Patch. I have NEVER seen one for sale! I can’t remember the story of how they came about anymore. I am very surprised that nobody (like the Sparta Box guy) has made a modern one like you see done on a lot of other patches.

Stockton Weber Days Match Prizes,1980 & 1982
Here is a model 66 that was awarded in 1980. It has non factory engraving.
Next is a model 686 that was awarded in 1982
If anyone can straighten or enlarge these for better viewing, I welcome your help.

Wow! I remember the Capt Weber Days. 3 days of PPC with every relay filled, every day. Man those were the days! I probably have a few dust collectors from Stockton.

Dave,
I remember Dallas Faulkner very well. He was the Rangemaster for years and I was still calling on him after I retired and went to work for S&W.
