Just got a notice from S&W, I wonder when the first review will be and if it will be honest?

In the latest issue of Rifle magazine, there was a review of the 1854 in 45 Colt. It was not a enthusiastic review. The receiver, barrel and bolt are the only pieces made of steel. All the rest are MIM parts. The author thought it was way over priced, due to all the MIM parts. Accuracy was just average. He gave it a C+ rating. Let's hope the 45-70 is better.

Read a review in the latest Guns&Ammo mag. Sounded favorable but what do you expect. Made to fit bells and whistles. For me a Marlin 1894 would be my choice.

The thing I really like about the S&W Lever guns, they come threaded from the factory. I have a 44mag and a 45-70 to go with my Obsidian suppressor. I’ve been waiting for the adapter for the S&W thread pattern and it just came. I’m going to try the 44mag tomorrow with standard magnum load. I’ll load some subsonic when I get some spare time. I’ll do the same with the 45-70 when time allows. I own 15 lever guns and getting them threaded is not appealing to me as it will ruin the mint factory condition. Certainly looks cool and the balance isn’t horrible.
