M&P 15-22 soon to have a 50 round drum magazine.

damn him! i emailed him about that too, and he left me in the dark... vengeance will be MINEEEeeeee... (in the form of buying two of those.. ;)

what i'm about to say may come as sacriledge to many of you so i'm sorry, but that 50 rd drum looks terrible. you have this huge drum hanging off the rifle and you only gain 25 rounds. it takes 5 seconds to change your mag. now, if it was 100 rounds or more, that might be different. also, it it wasn't a 1940's looking tommy gun era round drum, that would be different as well. the thing looks like a bear to load. i like the load assist feature on the smith mags.

i'd buy one that looks more like this
AR15 100 Round Drum Magazine by Beta/ C-Mag

to each his own.

Don't know how one would make a "pretty" drum mag. The drum is actually easy to load. It is all good we have more choices. No one twisting any arms to buy.

I don't know why a manufacturer should stop at 100 rounds. Lets go for mags that hold an entire bulk pack of 550. :p

i agree, im still lookin for a way to hang a belt out of mine... lol

$279, You have got to be kidding me? This thing looks like a foreign object and what are you getting, another few rounds 'only'!

If you want a Thompson, buy a Ruger 10/22 and get the Thompson conversion kit making it look like a Tommy Gun. The MP15-22 was designed to look like a AR15, not a Tommy Gun.

My opinion only, no disrespect to the manufacturer of the drum magazine.

5 seconds? You need some more practice on your reloads. ;)

It would be fun to have one, but for the price, I could buy a 4 S&W mags. I will say, black dog makes quality products, and their .22 LR AR mags are pretty much the industry standard right now. Just about all of the dedicated .22lr uppers and conversion units are compatible with them. While I'm sure the drum is a quality unit, it's not for me. But if someone wanted to buy me one, I wouldn't turn them down.

You just gave me an idea for the ultimate 22 mag. Just imagine a magazine that you can "pour" a 550 bulk pack into. The magazine would orient and feed them as needed. They already make magazine loaders that do this, why not eliminate the magazine completely? ;)

Umm, the black dog drums are about $80. I think you got it confused with the price of the Beta C-mag (100 rnd) for standard AR-15's.

they make a tommy gun kit for the 10/22? that sounds pretty cool. a drum just looks right on a tommy gun.

i agree that a 550rd mag would be sweet. you guys seem pretty innovative, get to work!:)

OH SNAP!! lol, he called you out! ;)

good grief, you black rifle guys are nuts. 5 seconds was an arbitrary short figure. if i would have said 1 second you'd all be up in my grill callin' me out. oh snap.

regardless of time for a mag change, i'll put money on me emptying 200 rds with 4 regular smith mags before you could with 2 50 rd drums. i can reload the 25rd mags faster.

the drum idea is okay, it just seems like an awfully unwieldy piece of hardware hanging down.

A drum magazine with 550 rounds pre-loaded from the factory. :D

Open the box, mount the mag and empty it. Bring it back to the store, exchange the empty mag and buy a new one, and get a discount. :)

(something like inkjet printer cartridge, or propane tank)
