thanks.
p.s. i want to get a 5.56 can that i will also use on my 22lr.

hey i work for a class II weapons manuf. ive test fired many suppressors on many guns... all ur bigger name brand cans are great they do what they r supposed to do.. if you r thinking about a can for your m&p dont expect it to be quiet it like the movies most of the ammo that feeds well through the m&p is high vel. which breaks the S.B. and creates a sonic boom... the sonic boom is allmost as many dbs as the a 22 rifle but if your shooting accross an open field you dont get as much sound report back to the shooter as say standing in a shooting house...still it will be quiet enough to shoot without hearing protection..(for quietest results put it on a bolt gun and shoot subs and wet the can) i personaly like the yhm 5.56 full auto rated cans with the qd option they dont come apart for cleaning like a gem tech or some of the others but i have made them glow on a m16 and have never hurt 1... plus they have a great warranty if u do definately go with a 556 can or even a 308 can so u can screw it on calibers other than a 22.. the only down side to the larger caliber cans is weight and size if u dont mind either then get a can that will fit most your rifles and enjoy..

i take it the subsonic ammo won't cycle the bolt in the 15-22?
BELTFED, do you know where i can get a full list of class 3 NFA dealers in my state. i've only been able to find 2 and when i contacted the first one, i was told they were too busy to help me with a transfer. too busy in this economy...must be rough. good for them i guess.
does a .308 can on a .223 or 22lr still dampen the sound to the same degree as a dedicated .223 can?
i'm just looking for a way to decrease overall noise so i don't bother my neighbors or any other busybodies who might not like guns.

i think the atf site listes them.. but id have to check..what state do u live and ill see if i cant get you some info. i cant tell the difference between a 308 can and a 223 can on the same gun and my db meter cant either im sure some one will get on here and say well then why do they even make a 223 can if a 308 can will work... its because the 223 can is shorter and lighter and a 22 can is even shorter and lighter than that..its all about volume(308 needs more) once u have enough u use that area to distort the blast and confuse the airflow(223s need less volume than a 308 so its waisted space) ... a yhm 223 can has a .300 clearance hole so i dont think a extra .050 per side on the 308 makes much diffence... a 308 can doesnt work very well on a 22 pistol not because it doesnt quiet it just because its over an inch longer than a 223 and alittle bigger o.d. (its just too bulky) if your never going to put it on andything bigger than a 223 then get a 223 can and be happy
so basicly its a trade off if u dont mind the length and weight u can sqrew it on more guns... but you should know a 308 can is threaded 5/8-24 usally and 223 cans r 1/2-28 usally but if you buy the qd setup you can get any thread adaptor you need hope this helps
ps if u can afford both cans then by all means buy them it will help the economy, but there isnt going to be a huge sound difference between them... its like buying a tv.. when you r in the store ,your compairing them to each other but once you get it home you will never notice that yours is alittle brighter than the other 1

I wouldn't use a sealed .223 can for .22lr. You'll lead up the baffles and be unable to open it for cleaning.

the surefire models are great..........but you can find some good stuff from local class II's .....go visit, test drive it, they be glad to let you, IF you are serious buyer....now is the time to think serious about suppressors, before someone decided to ban them too......alot of uses

this is a valid point... another reason i like the yhm phantom 556 suppressor is the huge opening in the rear.. i just take some bore cleaner let it soak and then use a shot gun brush after each use... keeps it looking new

Amen to this, they put the 200 dollar tax on suppressors at a time when it might as well have been 200,000 dollars... so i totally agree its just a matter of time befor they address this again

YHM Phantom Stainless 7.62 suppressor gives 2-3 db increase in sound when used on .223. Measures taken at 16 ft left rear of shooter. I don't think most people would notice the diference...

Well let's be grateful that there's quite of few Class II's out there to supply the common man when TSHTF.....we won't be so strung out of weapon suppliers like during the first civil war..........

I have had alot of fun with my gemtech outback 2 read ALOT of fun remington subsonic ammo runs GREAT and they are accurate to boot 5.56/223 is loud I have shot a halo and it is not like the movies 9mm and 22s are the most fun my 10/22 also has a threaded barrel so my gemtech screws right on and the remington subsonics cycle perfectly in it the gemtech was 299.00 and has a life time warr/garentee

I have the YHM Mite on my 15-22 22lr and it will cycle the subsonics fine, it is damn close to the hollywood effect, you basically just hear the action cycle. I am using the RWS subsonic HP's and they work great.
