"There is a broad array of .22LR ammuniton made by several manufacturers in different brands and types. Smith & Wesson has found wide variations in primer sensitivity and other characteristics between some brands and types of .22LR ammunition. Based on the design and action of the M&P 15-22, Smith & Wesson recommends that you use the following brands and types of .22LR ammunition for optimal performance in your M&P 15-22 rifle:

CCI Standard Velocity
CCI Mini-Mag
CCI Stinger
Federal American Eagle
Federal GameShock
Winchester Super-X High Velocity
Aguila Super Extra High Velocity
Aguila Super Extra Standard Velocity

welcome to the club!!

call 1-800-331-0852 , ext. 2905 they will ask name, address, phone number, and serial number, tell them the extractor blew off and they will email you a return label and instructions. Call 8-5 eastern mon-fri

place the gun back in the original box along with a letter with the above information and the reason why its being returned. either place the box in another box or just wrap the original box with plain paper and attach the shipping label and take it to a fedex store and make sure you get a tracking number

should take about 8-10 days to get back and will shoot 100 times better when it gets back.

just got off the phone with them they didnt ask for email..do they mail them to you also.

Don't know if you can ship from a FEDEX "store", a hub, yes. UPS will accept fireams for shipment only at their main hubs, not at "package stores", kiosks, or contract mailers.

FedEx stores are company operated-- No problem.

The UPS Store network is different. It is primarily a franchise operation with just a few company operated locations.

welcome to the club, mine blew up on 2 weeks ago friday. called them right after it happened. had my return label thursday, fedex pkd up gun friday in S&W hands on monday. now im waiting on its return.

Gonna see if they will put a flash sep on! for this inconvience...or how much i can buy it for : )

Yes they snail mail (slooow) or email the call tag to you. Best way is email. By getting them email, if you don't have it in 48 hours, you can call them again.

I was wondering if you remove your accessories when you send it back to S&W?

You can remove everything but the receiver, it's still a firearm.
Agree with Thiokol and carmel, firearms must go thru a hub, not a retail outlet. You can send anything anywhere if no one knows what's in the box, but if somehow the box breaks, you're in deep doodoo.

Oh I know it's still a firearm... I was just wondering if the accessories would be in the way for S&W, and if so, do you risk not getting them back if they remove them!

just take them off to be safe, it will take all of what 5 minutes?

I would remove everything from the rifle. Send it back the way it came to you.

Bingo! Send it back bone stock. Hope you didn't have a "trigger job" or polish this and that, the factory frowns on that type of thing. Ask guys who sent back their "modified" revolvers, they'll tell you. The factory will either refuse to work on it or will replace "modified" parts.
I never have some kitchen gunsmith play with my guns.

DON'T SEND A MAG WITH THE RIFLE. This way you can at least get a free mag out of the deal.

I would send a mag back also, as you never know if a feeding issue is the magazine's fault or another problem.

Edited: OP was talking about a blown extractor, my bad...maybe not sending a mag back is OK. Check with the factory before shipping.
