Hey all,

One of our members came up with the idea of shooting video to explain some processes on how to work on the M&P 15-22 so I decided to run with that idea and I now have a few videos available for your viewing pleasure. Most of this information would also apply to any other AR Platform firearm.

sweet... should answer a few questions... if a pic is worth a thousand a video is even better

Brett --

Nice job. Couple of comments.

1. Removing the trigger: The selector/safety does not need to be removed. Not sure why yours had to come out. Easy to push the trigger out from the bottom.

2. As long as you're on a roll do a fire control part reassembly video. Use a slave pin to hold the disconnector in the trigger and it's quite easy.

Chuck,

Thanks!

Not sure why the trigger would not come out, the back side of the trigger block where it engages the safety selector would not slide out from under the safety selector it was kind of caught between the trigger hole in the lower receiver and the selector and since it happened while I was shooting I just decided to remove the selector.

I probably should shoot a more detailed video on how to remove just the safety selector.

Great idea about a reassembly video, I will probably shoot one and I think I need to zoom in a little tighter and just hold a tight zoom so that everyone can see the parts better. I am not shooting with a high def video cam, but rather using my Fuji S1000FS camera so it does have some limitations to how close I can get and maintain auto focus.

Thanks for the tips and comments!

That. And practice keeping your hands out of the way of what you're doing! ;)

I've done some practice videos using a webcam and putting the monitor above the workbench. Once you get used to looking at your hands in the monitor it's easier to show what you want.

I think the one I just shot came out ok.. It's hard when your shooting with a camera that's the size of a 35mm SLR and I can't pivot the LCD around, I can flip it out and down. I did elevate my tripod up so that I could "point down" and I zoomed in further and it came out nice and clear.

Now the only issue is getting the video broken down into segments that will fit within Youtube's stupid 10 minute limit! My videos are always longer than 10 mins! :)

Brett,

Great videos sir! Looking forward to more of them. If you'd like to make them available for download & off-line viewing I've got servers & bandwidth that I'd be happy to make available.

Cheers!
