I write this for others who may be thinking of buying a S&W M&P15-22, and for others who have enjoyed, or have had issues with their rifles, so everyone can see that not all of these rifles have ejector/mag issues and that they are blast to shoot.
I have finally gotten to the range to shoot my M&P15-22 that I bought back in March 2010 from Big 5 with the 20% off coupon, cost me $459 OTD.
I have been really apprehensive after hearing all the reports of ejector problems.
Mine does not have blue springs, S/N starts with DTX.
I only have one mag, so I didn't' get to shoot as many rounds as I would have liked but, it performed really well, and very accurate, easy to sight in.
I was shooting indoors, and sighted it in at about 25 feet, then moved it back to the wall which is 50 feet, the ranges max distance. Nice groups, shooting standing, freehand.
I can post pics of the targets later, as I left them at my buddies house, along with my rifle as I had to go to LAX after-wards to pick up a relative, and I knew taking a firearm to the airport is not a good idea.
The first mag, I had one FTF(Failure to Feed) on the 4th round, mainly I think it was a magazine issue the way it was loaded. After that, I just made sure to take the time to load the mag well, and tap it on the edge of the table to help seat the rounds in the mag.
No issues at all after that, flawless, consecutive 206 rounds.
I tired 4 different brands of ammo, shooting a total of 210 rounds.
First I started with 80 rounds of CCI Mini mags.
Then went to 100 rounds of Federal lightening.
Then went to 30 rounds CCI Blazer.
After shooting the 210 rounds,
Even though the manual, and others say NOT to use Remington Golden bullet, my buddy who was with me happened to have some with him he used in his Ruger 10/22 with one FTF, so I thought I would try some.
It would not even feed the first round from the mag into the chamber properly. I tried twice with the same result, and I figured not to push my luck with this ammo.
So in a nutshell, I am VERY please with this rifles performance, and it is so fun to shoot, a great .22lr on the AR platform, and I know I really, really need to get more magazines!!
My M&P15-22( Don't worry, the flag was being disposed of, properly of course, and before I did that, I thought I would let it be remembered always with and American made firearm.)
